NCAC winter sports weekly releases for the week ending on Sunday, January 28th, which include up-to-date conference standings, weekly schedules, team notes and Player of the Week selections, are now available online.
While nationally-ranked Wittenberg has built a comfortable lead for one of the coveted top four spots in the 2018 NCAC Men’s Basketball Tournament, the fight for the three remaining top-four slots remains up for grabs over the final three weeks of the regular season. There are 10 total games on the slate this week, led by Denison hosting Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday and Wooster entertaining the Big Red on Saturday. Complete Release
Hiram (10-10, 6-5) has won three-straight league contests and four of its last five games to move into fourth place in the NCAC standings after victories against Wooster (4-15, 2-8) and Allegheny (5-13, 2-8) last week. After starting the season 2-6 through their first eight games, the Terriers have gone 8-3 over their last 11 as they are looking to host an NCAC Tournament quarterfinal for the second consecutive year. Wooster hosted five NCAC squads last weekend for the Fighting Scots Invitational, with Wittenberg earning first-place honors in both the men and women’s standings. A number of the Ohio-based NCAC squads will travel to Granville this weekend as Denison hosts its annual Bob Shannon Invite. Complete Release
Nearly all of the NCAC swimming & diving squads wrapped up their 2017-18 regular season training schedules last weekend; however, one dual meet remains on the schedule this week as Denison is set to host Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday morning. The 2018 NCAC Swimming & Diving Championships are set to take place at Denison’s Trumbull Aquatics Center in Granville, Ohio, February 14-17. A complete preview of the nation’s premiere Div.
