NCAC Winter Sports Weekly Releases - (2-12-18)

NCAC winter sports weekly releases for the week ending on Sunday, February 11th, which include up-to-date conference standings, weekly schedules, team notes and Player of the Week selections, are now available online.

While nationally-ranked Wittenberg (15-1, 22-1) clinched at least a share of its first North Coast men’s basketball title since 2012 on Wednesday with an 84-72 win over Wabash (8-8, 12-11), the Tigers also dropped their first game of the season on Saturday with a 94-71 setback at Hiram (10-6, 14-9). There are still several key matchups on the schedule in the final week of the season that will have a direct impact on the seeds for the 2018 NCAC Men’s Basketball Tournament, led by Hiram hosting Denison (8-8, 12-11) on Wednesday and Wittenberg hosting Wooster (13-3, 19-4) on Saturday. Complete Release

DePauw (15-0, 23-1) captured the NCAC championship and the No. 1 seed for the 2018 NCAC Women’s Basketball Tournament last week. It marks the sixth time in the last seven years the Tigers have earned the top spot in the conference tournament. The final seven seeds for the conference tournament will be determined this week as the NCAC regular season schedule officially comes to a close on Saturday. Complete Release
The 2018 NCAC Swimming & Diving Championships return to the Trumbull Aquatics Center on the campus of Denison University in Granville, Ohio, for the fifth year in a row. The nation's top Division III conference meet begins on Wednesday, February 14th, and runs through Saturday, February 17th. Complete Release

The Ohio-based NCAC track & field squads competed at Otterbein last Saturday for the annual All-Ohio Championships, while DePauw hosted Wabash and 11 other institutions for the DePauw Invitational. League squads will return to the circuit this weekend, led by Kenyon hosting its annual home invitational on Saturday in Gambier. Complete Release

North Coast men’s lacrosse squads kicked off the 2018 season last week as Wittenberg earned the first victory of the year, defeating Transylvania. Non-conference action continues in the coming week with conference play scheduled to begin on Saturday, March 10th. Complete Release

North Coast men’s tennis teams combined for a 4-5 record against non-conference opponents last weekend, highlighted by No. 25 Kenyon picking up a 5-3 win over No. 22 Sewanee on Sunday afternoon. League squads continue action this week, led by Ohio Wesleyan opening its spring slate with a trio of matches in Janesville, Wisconsin. Complete Release

A few more North Coast women’s tennis teams kicked off their spring schedules last weekend, led by nationally-ranked Oberlin picking up a pair of 9-0 home wins on Saturday against Baldwin Wallace and Otterbein.
