GRANVILLE, Ohio - The Denison offensive line was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week after their performance against 11th ranked Wittenberg on Saturday.
Despite losing two starters to injuries, the Big Red O-line paved the way for Alex Minton to rush for 197 yards on 27 carries and quarterback Canaan Gebele to gain 119 yards on 24 carries. Gebele and Minton combined for six rushing touchdowns and on 31 passing attempts, Gebele was sacked only once.
Denison's starters on the offensive line were Frank Zoltan at left tackle, Josh Blaz at left guard, Andrew Zellers at center, Jeremy Woelfer at right guard and George Carson at right tackle. Midway through the third quarter, Woelfer left the game with an injury and was replaced by senior Nick Morton who played the rest of regulation and all four overtime periods. In the fourth quarter, Blaz went down and was replaced by junior Preston Ott who also finished the game.
Wittenberg entered the game with the nation's 36th ranked rushing defense, allowing just 80.7 yards per game.
Denison returns to action this Saturday when they host No. 22 Wabash at 3 p.m. at Piper Stadium.

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Troy Jones came up with two blocked kicks in Wittenberg's 68-66 four-overtime victory at Denison on saturday. Jones swatted away a Big Red field goal attempt early in the second quarter, setting up Wittenberg with possession at its own 48-yard line. Next play, Jake Kennedy aired out a 52-yard touchdown pass to Thad Snodgrass, giving Wittenberg a 21-7 lead.
Jones also blocked a Denison extra point attempt in the third quarter as the Big Red drew within 35-23, forcing DU to go for a two-point conversion later in the game.
