ALL-NCAC BASEBALL SQUAD ANNOUNCED;
WOOSTER'S KARPEN, MILLER EARN INDIVIDUAL HONORS

CLEVELAND --
Wooster senior first baseman Sean Karpen (Venetia, PA/Peters Township) and senior right-hander Mark Miller (Convoy, OH/Crestview) have been named Player and Pitcher of the Year to highlight the 2009 All-North Coast Athletic Conference baseball selections.

Karpen repeats as North Coast Player of the Year and as a member of the first team. This season he hit .433 (77-178) with seven home runs, 12 doubles, 39 runs batted in and 62 runs scored. He finished in the top five in the North Coast in batting average, slugging percentage (.629), runs, hits, home runs, total bases (112), hit by pitch (10), stolen bases (20) and at bats (178).

Miller earns Pitcher of the Year honors for the first time. He dominated hitters with an 8-1 record and a 3.06 earned-run average. He struck out 57 batters in 61.2 innings pitched and posted four saves through the conference tournament. Miller makes his third consecutive appearance on the All-NCAC squad, and second straight on the first team.

In addition to Karpen and MIller three other players make repeat appearances on the first team: Wooster junior Matt Groezinger (Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington) and Kenyon seniors Jake Calcei (Mantua, OH/Aurora) and Will Smith (New York, NY/Collegiate). Moving up after earning second-team honors in 2008 are Earlham junior Jake Carr (Richmond, IN/Richmond) and Wabash senior Jake Thomas (Evanston, IL/Evanston). Thomas returns to the top squad, having been named to the first team in 2007, while Carr was a second-team choice that year. Wabash senior Matt Dodaro (St. John, IN/Lake Central) makes his fourth appearance on the All-NCAC team and second on the top squad. He was named to the first team in 2007, and was honorable mention in both 2006 and 2008.

Ohio Wesleyan freshman James DiBiasio (Westlake, OH/Westlake) was named Newcomer of the Year after posting a .375 batting average wtih two home runs and 18 RBI. He is a second-team selection.

Kenyon's Matt Burdette earned Coach of the Year honors for the fourth time after leading the Lords to a 24-21 record and second place in the North Coast Conference. He is 218-278 (.440) in 14 years at the helm and has posted a winning record with at least 19 victories for five straight seasons.
