Wabash sophomore Andrew Swart shut out Wittenberg for the second time this season. In his fourth win of the year, he went seven innings, allowed five hits with five strikeouts. Swart also threw 1-2/3 innings against Purdue and held the Boilermakers to a hit, a walk and struck out three.

Wooster senior second baseman Matthew Johnson batted .652 with 13 runs, four doubles, two triples, two home runs and five RBI in the Fighting Scots’ 6-0 week. He has not been retired over his last 13 plate appearances with 10 consecutive hits, plus a walk adn two hit by pitches. Johnson was also perfect in 31 chances in the field.

Wittenberg sophomore righthander Ted Skalla pitched two perfect innings in relief, with six-up and six-down to get the win against Otterbein. Then against Ohio Wesleyan, Skalla threw 1.2 innings with one strikeout and one hit allowed to get the save. For the week, he threw 3.2 innings, retired 11 of 12 batters faced, and did not allow a run.

Hiram senior catcher Justin Street hit .629 on 13-for-21 batting with six runs scored and eight RBI last week. He led the Terriers to doubleheader splits with D’Youville and Pitt-Greensburg before they were swept by Case.

Wooster junior righthander Tyler Fugate saved the Fighting Scots’ 4-3 decision over eighth-ranked Marietta, then earned teh win in a 2-1, 10-inning decision over Allegheny. In eight innings, he allowed one unearned run, scattered four hits and struck outo 16 of a possible 24 batters. He notched a career-best nine K’s against the Pioneers.

He has an active, 14-game hitting streak and has set the school record for hits in a season (44) in just 20 games. Against the Lords, Puterbaugh hit 9-for-11 (.818) and was perfect in 14 chances at third base.

Lefthander Zach Clark of Wittenberg scattered seven hits in seven innings, walked two and fanned six in a 5-0 win over Earlham. In his second career start and third career appearance, he threw a complete-game shutout. He also threw an inning of scoreless relief in a victory over Urbana.

Peter Krieger, Denison
(New Canaan, CT/New Canaan)

Junior Peter Krieger (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) belted a grand slam in the victory over Oglethorpe. He hit 6-for-8 (.750) with two home runs, eight runs batted in and four runs scored in the Big Red’s 1-1 week. He has a four-game hitting streak and has reached base in all six of Denison’s games in 2010.
