Savage, a 6-1, 185-pound quarterback, completed 15 of 27 passes for 204 yards and three touchdowns as the Gators defeated Wittenberg, 31-21. Savage's seven-yard strike to Logan Kaleta (Kirtland, OH/Kirtland) sealed the victory with 2:13 left, and put the game out of reach. Clerviox, a 6-0, 215-pound end, led the Bishops to a 21-7 victory over Wooster with seven tackles, 1 1/2 sacks, three tackles for a loss and and forced fumble. __________________________________________________________________________ Nov. 6, 2005 Wabash senior Russ Harbaugh (Evansville, IN/Bosse) and Wittenberg senior Ken Bibb (Cincinnati, OH/Prcell Marian) have been named offensive and defensive ?Players of the Week? for their performances in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Harbaugh, a 6-1, 189-pound quarterback, helped the Little Giants clinch the North Coast conference championship by setting a conference record for completion percentage (.950) in a victory over Denison. He completed 19-20 passes for 317 yards and three touchdowns in less than three quarters of action. Bibb, a 6-0, 190-pound linebacker, made the most of his third career start with a career-high seven tackles, his first career interception and a forced fumble that was returned for a touchdown in the first quarter, in the Tigers' defeat of Wooster. __________________________________________________________________________ Oct. 30, 2005 Kenyon sophomore Rafael Sanchez (Tavernier, FL/Coral Shores) and Wittenberg junior Tyler Harmon (Indianapolis, IN/Perry Meridian) have been named offensive and defensive ?Players of the Week? for their performances in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Sanchez, a 5-10, 185-pound quarterback, put on an all-around performance to almost single handedly defeat Earlham. He scored both of the Lords' touchdowns in the game, including the overtime game-winner, and piled up 118 yards on the ground and 169 in the air for an offensive total of 287 yards. Harmon, a 6-0, 215-pound linebacker, shared game-high honors with 16 total tackles, eight of those solo, both career highs, in the Tigers' 31-9 defeat of Ohio Wesleyan. __________________________________________________________________________ Oct. 23, 2005 Allegheny junior Mario Tarquinio (Chareloi, PA/Chareloi) and Wabash senior Aaron Selby (Crawfordsville, IN/Southmont) have been named offensive and defensive ?Players of the Week? for their performances in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Tarquinio, a 5-11, 205-pound running back, carried the ball 20 times for 101 yards and a touchdown, leading the Gators to a 38-6 defeat of Hiram. It was the fourth time this season Tarquinio has rushed for 100+ yards. He ranks third in the NCAC in rushing yards per game (111.4). Selby, a 6-2, 214-pound linebacker, was in on two key stops on Wittenberg's final drive. He made one tackle for a loss of eight yards, then was in another on fourth and 18 to end the threat and clinch the victory. Selby finished with 10 tackles, including seven solo. __________________________________________________________________________ Oct. 16, 2005 Oberlin sophomore Chris Schubert (Oberlin, OH/Oberlin) and Kenyon senior Casey McConnell (Cincinnati, OH/Summit Country Day) have been named offensive and defensive ?Players of the Week? for their performances in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Schubert, a 5-10, 180-pound wide receiver, caught six passes for 109 yards, and rushed five times for 51 yards and a touchdown in the Yeomen's 13-10 victory over Earlham. He scored the game-winning touchdown on a 41-yard run from scrimmage with 11:47 left in the game, giving Oberlin its first NCAC victory of the year. McConnell, a 5-11, 215-pound linebacker, put on a tackling clinic in his team's victory over Allegheny. McConnell was in on 21 stops, 13 of them solo, forced one fumble and recovered two others. The Lords are 3-0 in NCAC play for the first time in school history. __________________________________________________________________________ Oct. 9, 2005 Kenyon junior Alby Coombs (Boston, MA/Belmont Hill) and Wabash sophomore Adrian Pynenberg (Montgomery, IL/Oswego Community) have been named offensive and defensive ?Players of the Week? for their performances in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Coombs, a 6-0, 210-pound running back, rushed 30 times for 258 yards and four touchdowns in the Lords' 42-21 upset of Wooster. Pynenberg, a 5-10, 213-pound linebacker, made nine tackles, seven solo, 3.5 tackles for a loss of 22 yards, 2.5 sacks, 1 hurry, 2 passes broken up and one interception in a defeat of Oberlin. __________________________________________________________________________ Oct. 4, 2005 Kenyon junior Alby Coombs (Boston, MA/Belmont Hill) and Hiram senior Mike Erkkila (Perry, OH/Perry) have been named offensive and defensive ?Players of the Week? for their performances in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Coombs, a 6-0, 210-pound running back, had a season high 165 yards on 33 carries as a key component in the Lords' late-game comeback from a 13-point deficit. In a third quarter scoring drive, with Oberlin leading, 20-7, Coombs carried eight times for 46 yards, then in the game-winning drive late in the game, he carried nine times for 57 yards. In the process, Coombs became Kenyon's all-time leader in career rushing yards. Erkkila, a 6-1, 230-pound linebacker, made 10 tackles, had a half tackle for a loss, and snagged the interception that led to the Terriers' game- winning touchdown in a, 7-2, victory over Earlham. It was the Terriers' first win since October, 2003 __________________________________________________________________________ September 25, 2005 Denison senior Larry Cappetto (Troy, MI/Troy) and Wooster senior Chris Craig (Newark, OH/Johnstown-Monroe) have been named offensive and defensive ?Players of the Week? for their performances in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Cappetto, a 6-1, 188-pound quarterback, led the Big Red to a 49-21 rout of Gettysburg with three touchdowns. He was 18-of-27 in the air for 287 yards and a touchdown. He also led the team in rushing with 56 yards and two scores on six attempts. He accounted for 343 of Denison?s 505 yards of total offense. On the season, Cappetto has completed 54 percent of his passes for 496 yards and two TDs. He is also the team?s leading rusher with 126 yards and a 7.9 yards per carry average. Craig, a 6-1, 210-pound strong safety, recovered a fumble and had a 20-yard interception return for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter to help the Fighting Scots seal their 38-21 victory over Case. He totalled five tackles, including three solo stops in the win. His interception was the third of his career ? all of which have been returned for scores. __________________________________________________________________________ September 18, 2005 Wabash senior Russ Harbaugh (Evansville, IN/Bosse) and Ohio Wesleyan senior Cisco Clervoix (Naples, FL/Naples) have been named offensive and defensive "Players of the Week" for their performances in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Harbaugh, a 6-1, 189-pound quarterback, paced Wabash with a 256-yard, three-touchdown passing performance to lead the Little Giants to a 23-7 victory over Washington (Mo.). He moved up two more places on the Little Giants' all-time passing list to fourth, and enters this week's NCAC opener versus Earlham with 4,182 career passing yards Clervoix, a 6-0, 215-pound defensive end, shared the team lead with eight tackles in the Bishops' defeat of Olivet. Three of those tackles were for a loss and one was a sack. He also ended a Comet scoring threat in the first quarter by making a tackle for a two-yard loss on fourth down, on the Ohio Wesleyan 32. __________________________________________________________________________ September 11, 2005 Earlham senior Justin Rummell (Ingalls, IN/Pendleton Hts.) and Oberlin sophomore Chris Pisani (Oak Park, IL/Fenwick) have been named offensive and defensive "Players of the Week" for their performances in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Rummell, a 6-3, 215-pound quarterback, completed 22-of-28 passes for 476 yards and seven touchdowns, leading the Quakers to a record- setting, 69-62, victory over Manchester. Both the yards and touchdown totals are school single-game records, and the seven passing TDs is a conference mark. Rummell now holds the Quaker school mark with 50 career passing scores. Pisani, a 6-4, 220-pound defensive end, led the Yeomen defense, breaking out in his second game as a defensive end. The converted tight end recorded nine tackles, five tackles-for-loss, and 3.5 sacks. He also forced and recovered a fumble in the Yeomen's 44-14 defeat if Macalaster. __________________________________________________________________________ September 6, 2005 Ohio Wesleyan senior Ryan Sir Louis (Hinckley, OH/Highland) and Denison junior Andrew Terlecky (Centerville, OH/Centerville) have been named offensive and defensive "Players of the Week" for their performances in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Sir Louis, a 6-0, 205-pound quarterback, put on a brillant show to lead the Bishops to a season-opening victory over Franklin. Starting from the very first drive, which resulted in a one-yard touchdown scamper by Sir Louis, the offense led the way to victory. Sir Louis ran for 70 yards and two touchdowns and completed 13 of 18 passes for 165 yards. Terlecky, a 5-9, 170-pound cornerback, sparkled in his first career start. He intercepted three passes and returned his second 31 yards for the game- winning touchdown with 14:02 left. Terlecky then personally ended the Waynesburg's final drive when he snagged a Yellowjacket pass on his own 10 yard line. In addition to his interceptions, Terlecky finished with eight tackles, two passes broken up and a forced fumble. __________________________________________________________________________
