__________________________________________________________________________ November 4, 2007 OFFENSE Ohio Wesleyan senior split end Zach Dennis (Jefferson, OH/Jefferson) had a 51-yard reception on the first play of the game to set up the Battling Bishops’ first touchdown in the 37-7 victory over Hiram. Dennis finished with 10 catches for 219 yards, turning in the first OWU 200-yard receiving performance since 2001. Dennis’ 219 yards also ranks fourth on the Ohio Wesleyan single-game list. Dennis also scored on a five-yard run. DEFENSE Wittenberg freshman linebacker Ben Koester (Fort Thomas, KY/Highlands) set up a first quarter touchdown with an interception in his team’s 17-6 defeat of Allegheny. Koester also contributed 10 tackles and one sack for a loss of 14 yards. __________________________________________________________________________ October 28, 2007 OFFENSE Denison junior quarterback Mike Barnes (Mayfield Hts., OH/Mayfield) had an outstanding day as he accounted for 313 yards of total offense and five touchdowns in the Big Red's 51-41 win over Kenyon. Barnes rushed for 190 yards on 16 carries and scored twice, and completed 10 of 14 passes for another 123 yards and three scores. This season, he has accumulated 997 yards of total offense, 594 passing, 364 rushing and 39 receiving. DEFENSE Wabash senior linebacker Adrian Pynenberg (Montgomery, IL/Oswego Community) made 13 tackles as the Little Giants clinched a share of the NCAC title with their 21-10 victory over Wooster. He is now five short of the Little Giants’ career mark in the category. Pynenberg made eight solo stops and had 4.5 tackles for a loss, one shy of the school single- game record. He made two sacks for losses of 11 yards, broke up a pass, recovered a fumble and had an interception on Wooster’s final play of the game. __________________________________________________________________________ October 21, 2007 OFFENSE Earlham senior receiver Joe White (Richmond, IN/Richmond) caught seven passes for 139 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-35 defeat of Kenyon. White also made one catch on a third-down conversion on the Quakers' game- winning drive. DEFENSE Wittenberg freshman linebacker Brad McKinley (Hilliard, OH/Davidson) was a hero in the late minutes of the Tigers' game against Ohio Wesleyan. He stopped a Battling Bishop drive with an interception on the OWU 46-yard line and returned it 37 yards to clinch the Tigers' 21-61 victory. McKinley also recorded a game-best 16 stops, one tackle for a loss and a half sack in the game. __________________________________________________________________________ October 14, 2007 OFFENSE Oberlin junior running back R.V. Carroll (Perry, OH/Perry) led the Yeomen to a 41-14 victory over Earlham. Carroll finished with 217 yards and four scores on 34 carries, for the third-best single-game rushing total in school history. He led a Yeomen surge after the Quakers had taken a 14-7 lead early in the second half by scoring four straight touchdowns. DEFENSE Ohio Wesleyan senior defensive end Patrick Trenor (Urbana, OH/Urbana) compiled nine tackles, seven solos, two sacks for a loss of 18 yards, 2.5 tackles for a loss of 19 yards and one pass break up to lead the Battling Bishops past Denison, 27-10. __________________________________________________________________________ October 7, 2007 OFFENSE Wooster junior running back Dustin Sheppard (Johnstown, OH/Johnstown- Monroe) rushed for a season-high 116 yards on 20 carries, highlighted by a 34-yard touchdown with 2:58 remaining to lift the Fighting Scots to a 13-9 victory over Ohio Wesleyan. Sheppard became the 10th player in school history to rush for over 2,000 yards in a career, and enters this week with 2,052. DEFENSE Oberlin senior Chase Palmer (Highland, UT/Snow College) was the hero with a game-saving interception with 47 seconds left to stop Denison’s final drive. Palmer posted a team best eight tackles, 3.5 tackles for a loss and two sacks, leading the Yeomen to a 34-27 victory. __________________________________________________________________________ October 2, 2007 OFFENSE Quarterback T.J. Salopek (North Huntington, PA/Norwin) of Allegheny rushed 14 times for 68 yards and one touchdown, and completed 18 of 30 passes for 171 yards and the other score in the Gators' 14-0 defeat of Denison. He accounted for 239 of the Gators' 261 yards of offense. DEFENSE Senior Chase Palmer (Highland, UT/Snow College) led the Yeomen to a 49-14 defeat of Hiram for their first victory of the season. He paced the Oberlin defense with six tackles, 0.5 for a loss, a fumble recovery, five pass breakups and one quarterback hurry. __________________________________________________________________________ September 23, 2007 OFFENSE: Denison junior Mike Barnes (Mayfield Hts., OH/Mayfield) made his first career start at quarterback after two years as a starter in the secondary. Barnes had an impressive showing with 55 yards passing, 121 yards rushing and a touchdown as the Big Red defeated Gallaudet, 42-0. His 80-yard scamper for a score in the third quarter was the longest play from scrimmage by a DU player since 2005. DEFENSE: Allegheny junior linebacker Craig Lawrence (Fairview, PA/Fairview) had seven tackles, 2.0 sacks for losses of 14 yards, forced one fumble and recovered two more to lead the Gator defense in a 24-21 victory over Carnegie Mellon. __________________________________________________________________________ September 16, 2007 OFFENSE: In overtime, Earlham junior quarterback Randy Kerns (West Manchester, OH/ National Trail) completed two consecutive 10-yard passes, the second in the end zone, to provide the difference and lift Earlham to a 26-23 victory over Anderson. It was the first overtime victory in Earlham history. For the game, Kerns completed 18 of 36 passes for 207 yards and two touchdowns. DEFENSE: Wabash senior linebacker Adrian Pynenberg (Montgomery, IL/Oswego Community) totaled 12 tackles, three tackles for a loss, one sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery for a return of seven yards to lead the Little Giants to a 28-6 victory over Millikin. Pynenberg became the fourth Wabash player to record 300 tackles in a career, and is the second-ranked player on the Little Giants' all-time list with 50 career sacks. __________________________________________________________________________ September 9, 2007 OFFENSE: In Wabash's 35-33 defeat of Franklin, quarterback Dustin Huff (Martinsville, IN/Martinsville) carried the offense with single-game school records for passing yardage (477) and total offense (499) before going down to injury on special teams late in the game. He had four passing TDs and completed three passes over 50 yards. DEFENSE: In Ohio Wesleyan's 20-14 loss to Catholic, junior linebacker Tommy Saunders (Gallipolis, OH/Gallia Academy) led the Bishop defense with 10 tackles, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup. __________________________________________________________________________ September 4, 2007 OFFENSE: Kenyon senior quarterback Rafael Sanchez (Tavernier, FL/Coral Shores) accounted for six scores (two rushing, four passing) and 357 yards by running for 123 and passing for another 234 as the Lords doubled up Grinnell, 70-35. Sanchez led Kenyon to school records for points in a game (70) and total yards in a game (624). DEFENSE: Wittenberg freshman linebacker Brad McKinley (Hilliard, OH/Davidson) led all players with 15 total tackles in the Tigers' 13-0 loss to Capital. He also had a sack and broke up a pass in his first collegiate game. __________________________________________________________________________
