Edited: June 27, 2003 HIRAM COLLEGE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT UNVEILS NEW TERRIER LOGO We feel that now is the appropriate time to offer a fresh, new look to Hiram College athletics, said Tom Mulligan, Hiram College Director of Athletics and Exercise/Sport Science. With ground about to be broken on our new recreation center, as well as many positive changes and improvements occurring across the Hiram campus, its a very exciting time on Hiram Hill and we wanted the new logo to be a part of that excitement. The new logo packaged, designed by Hiram College graphic designer Kimberly Torda and former All-American Gary Lipski 71, features a more contemporary image of the Terrier mascot as well as a sleek typeface to reflect the positive momentum currently enjoyed by the athletic department. The package is the first of its kind for the department in its over 106-year history. Though known as the Terriers since 1928, Hiram teams had never had one official, unifying look. Over the years, teams have featured a solid H, an interlocking HC, several different versions of a terrier, or a paw print. This new package gives Hiram athletics a unified look and a professional feel, added Mulligan. It also allows us to bring uniform colors back to one standard of red and blue and give a consistent look across all athletic teams. While it offers our teams a unifying look, the package is flexible to allow each coach choices as to how to use the logo family without changing the overall look and feel of the logo, said Director of Sports Information and Marketing Jason Tirotta. That is something that we have not had here in the past. In addition to the new contemporary Terrier which is set on a navy background outlined in red with white typeface, the new logo also features a new, modernized interlocking HC and Terrier script which can be either navy, white, or red in color with a contrasting outline. The new logo will begin to appear on all athletic team apparel beginning this fall. It will also be featured on a variety of College-printed materials, including: game programs, guides, schedule cards and posters, and camp and recruit brochures. In addition, it will also be featured on mugs, sweatshirts, jackets, hats, and other items in the Hiram College Bookstore. |
