As North Coast Tournament Champions, Kenyon has earned the conference’s automatic bid into the NCAA Div. III playoffs - this will be their second straight trip to the national tournament and second since 1989. The Ladies will travel to Cortland St. (16-3) for a first-round game on Wednesday, Nov. 7. The winner will face Rowan (14-4) in a second round matchup at Bowdoin on Saturday, Nov. 10. Saturday's second match pits the winner of the Alvernia (16-5)/ Skidmore (13-5) match against the host Polar Bears. Gametimes will be set later this week. The third round is set for Sunday; Sunday's winner will advance to the national semifinals/finals on Nov. 16-17 at Eleanor Frost Snell Alumnae Field at Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA. Kenyon earned a share of its first NCAC championship during the regular season, and won its second straight conference tournament title to earn the NCAA bid. The Ladies blanked a league-best seven opponents this season behind the stellar play of junior goalkeeper Karen Thompson (Mechanicsburg, PA/Mechanicsurg Area). Thompson started all 22 games for the Ladies and has posted 146 saves for a .859 save percentage. She has a 1.29 goals against average and was named to the NCAC Field Hockey Tournament All-Tourney team last weekend due to her outstanding play throughout the event, including several key saves during the championship game.
