___________________________________________________________________________ February 18, 2007 Wooster senior Tom Port (Avon Lake, OH/Avon Lake), a 6-5 forward, totaled 43 points, on 16-of-23 shooting, and six assists, three blocks and three steals in victories over Kenyon (87-62) and Ohio Wesleyan (95-89). He led the Scots to their third straight regular season title. Port, who enters the tournament with 1,650 career points, had his fifth double-double of the season with 21 points and 14 rebounds against Ohio Wesleyan. ___________________________________________________________________________ February 11, 2007 Allegheny junior Bill Babe (Pittsburgh, PA/Mt. Lebanon) averaged 25 points per game in the Gators’ 2-0 week that lifted them into a fourth- place tie in the standings. Babe scored a career-high 34 points in a 94-67 defeat of Denison, then added another 16 in a 74-69 victory over Oberlin. For the week, he pulled down seven rebounds, dished out six assists and picked off four steals. He hit 18-of-30 (60%) shots from the field in the two games, including 10-of-21 (47.6%) from three-point range. ___________________________________________________________________________ February 4, 2007 Wittenberg sophomore Gregg Hill (Redford, MI/Union) scored the Tigers’ last four points inside the final 10 seconds of the game to seal a thrilling, 74-71 victory over first-place Wooster. Hill finished with a team-best 21 points on 6-for-10 shooting, including 3-for-3 from three- point range. He opened the week with a 14-point peformance in an 87-40 win over Earlham. Overall, Hill hit 11-of-19 (.579) shots from the field, including 5-of-8 (.625) from three-point land, and a perfect 8-of-8 from the line as he totalled 35 points. ___________________________________________________________________________ January 28, 2007 Ohio Wesleyan junior Dustin Rudegeair (Yellow Springs, OH/Yellow Springs), a 6-5 post, scored the Bishops' first six points and had eight points during a game-opening 17-0 run in a 96-59 win over Oberlin. He finished with 10 points and was 4-for-5 (.800) from the field. He returned to action in a 92-86 win over Hiram, hitting a jumper to break a 65-65 tie and putting Ohio Wesleyan ahead to stay. He finished with 10 points and four boards and was 4-for-7 (.571) from the floor. ___________________________________________________________________________ January 21, 2007 Wabash's Andrew Zimmer (Hobart, IN/Hobart), a 6-5, junior forward, totalled 57 points as he led the Little Giants to their first back-to-back wins of the season. He scored a career-best 35 points in a 73-57 win over Earlham, connecting on 11-of-15 (.733) shots from the field, including all four of his three-point attempts. He became the seventh player in Wabash history to score at least 35 points in any conference game. Zimmer kept the hot hand, hitting 10-of-12 (.833) shots on his way to 22 points in an 87-81 win over Kenyon. He also handed out four assists and grabbed four rebounds. For the week, he was 21-of-27 from the floor with 57 points in two games. ___________________________________________________________________________ January 14, 2007 Denison's Dan Hodgkinson (Lake Forest, IL/Lake Forest), a 6-6, senior post, paced Denison in victories over Oberlin, 75-48, and Allegheny, 87-67. The wins were the first two consecutive victories for the Big Red this season and also snapped a 10-game losing skid. Hodgkinson scored 27 points and had four rebounds and a block against the Yeomen and returned with 16 points, seven rebounds and two blocks versus Allegheny. He leads the NCAC in scoring at 19.8 points per game and is just 152 points away from becoming Denison's all-time leading scorer. If he keeps at his current pace, Hodgkinson will pass Charlie Claggett on Feb. 10 at Allegheny. ___________________________________________________________________________ January 7, 2007 Hiram's Mike Staley (Perry, OH/Lake Catholic), a 6-0, freshman guard, matched a career-high with 16 points in the Terriers' 67-65 win over Earlham. The Terriers improved their conference record to 2-1 and moved into fourth place in the standings. He was a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line and also chipped in 10 assists, four rebounds and a steal. ___________________________________________________________________________ January 2, 2007 Earlham's Markous Jewett (Richmond, IN/Richmond), a 6-6, senior forward, scored 85 points over five games during the holiday break, including three with 20 or more. In a 71-66 defeat of Franklin, Jewett poured in 20 points and nine rebounds. He followed that with a 21-point, 5-rebound showing in a 10-point loss to Anderson. Jewett’s best effort was a 23- point outburst in a two-point loss to Muskingum. He shot 10-for-11 from the free-throw line in that game, and was 28-for-33 (.848) from the charity stripe in the five contests. Jewett also snagged 29 rebounds in that span. ___________________________________________________________________________ December 11, 2006 Allegheny's Ryan Hollihan (Saxonburg, PA/Knoch), a 6-8, sophomore forward, scored a team-high 18 points while pulling down 10 rebounds for his second straight double-double in a 73-70 overtime victory over Ohio Wesleyan. He scored seven of his points in the OT period to hand the Gators their first win over OWU since 2003. In a 102-97 loss to Westminster, he scored a career-high 24 points on 10-of-14 shooting and grabbed 11 boards. For the week, Hollihan averaged 21 points and 10.5 rebounds over the two games. He hit 18-of-28 shots from the field and 6-of-9 from the free throw line. ___________________________________________________________________________ December 4, 2006 Wittenberg's Dane Borchers (Russia, OH/Russia), a 6-8, senior post, scored a career-high 33 points to lead Wittenberg to a 100-85 triple overtime victory over Denison. Borchers hit a jumper with five second left in the first overtime to extend the game, then he took over the third, and final, extra period, scoring 12 points of his points to hand the Tigers the victory. He also snagged a career-high-tying 16 rebounds. ___________________________________________________________________________ November 27, 2006 Wooster's Tim Vandervaart (North Canton, OH/Hoover), a 6-6, senior post, scored a career-high 32 points while playing in his hometown and leading the second-ranked Fighting Scots to a 17-point victory (85-68) at Walsh, the No. 7 rated team in NAIA Div. II. Vandervaart made 12-of-15 (.800) field goals and 8-of-9 (.889) free throws and also led the Scots in rebounding (7) in their lone game of the week. ___________________________________________________________________________ November 20, 2006 Kenyon's Brian Yelvington (Arlington Hts., IL/John Heresy), a 6-6, sophomore forward, was named to the all-tournament team at the Food for the Hungry Holiday Invitational at Mount Vernon Nazarene. He scored a combined 32 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the two games. He was 13-of-14 (.929) at the free throw line and also contributed four assists and three steals.
