CLEVELAND -- Denison senior Alex Baruch (Richmond, VA/St. Christopher's) has been named Player of the Year to highlight the 2008 All-North Coast Athletic Conference men's lacrosse selections.

Baruch, a four-time all-NCAC goalkeeper, makes his second appearance on the first team. He was named to the second team in 2007 and 2005, and was a first team member in 2006. This spring, Baruch led the North Coast in goals-against average (5.50) and saves percentage (.697) and was second in saves per game (10.62) for the NCAC champion Big Red.

Denison sophomore Brady Burton (Dublin, OH/Jerome) and senior Taylor Nissi (Groton, MA/Holderness), as well as Ohio Wesleyan senior Chris Eccles (Secane, PA/Monsignor Bonner), are repeat first-team selections. Nissi and Eccles make their third straight appearances on the top squad. Kenyon junior Devin Caitlin (Charlottesville, VA/Western Albemarle) and Denison senior Rick Mackessy (Hudson, OH/Hudson) each move up to the first team after earning second-team honors in 2007. Lord senior Nate Pritchard (Narberth, PA/Lower Merion) was voted to the first team after two appearances on the honorable mention squad (2007, 2006).

Denison freshman attacker Emmett Jones (Colorado Springs, CO/AirAcademy) was named the league's Newcomer of the Year in balloting by the coaches after the attacker scored 38 goals with a 2.12 scoring average. He is one of two freshman on the 2008 All-NCAC team.

Oberlin senior goalkeeper Drew Zambelli (Eastchester, NY/Fieldston School) was named the inaugural NCAC Men's Lacrosse Sportsman of the Year as a player under adversity or one who made choices on the field in conference games that coaches would want all players to follow as an example. Coaches selected Zambelli as a player who was positive and tried to bring out the best in his teammates.

Denison's Matt McGinnis earned Coach of the Year honors for the first time after guiding the Big Red to a 13-3 record and the NCAC crown, as well as a bid to the NCAA Division III tournament. In three seasons at the helm, McGinnis has posted a 34-13 (.723) record.
