__________________________________________________________________________ April 28, 2008 Ohio Wesleyan junior Andrew Bloom (Powell, OH/Worthington Kilbourne) was the decathlon champion at the NCAC Multi-Event Championships, hosted by Oberlin on April 26-27. Bloom set a school record with 5,804 points, to edge the second-place finisher by 72 points. Bloom won the 100 meters (11.44), long jump (6.00m/19-08.25), high jump (1.79m/5-10.50), and 110-meter hurdles (15.56). __________________________________________________________________________ April 21, 2008 Men's Distance/Middle Distance Oberlin junior Ryan King (Glastonbury, CT/Glastonbury) was third in the 800 meters at the Kenyon Spring Invitational. He finished in a time of 1:56.07. Men's Sprints/Hurdles Wabash sophomore Emmanuel Aouad (Terre Haute, IN/North) won the 400 intermediate hurdles at the Rose-Hulman Invitational. He finished in a time of 54.93 seconds, the best effort on the North Coast this season. Men's Field Allegheny senior Frank Tupta (University Heights, OH/Hawken) was third in the shot put at the Westminster Invitational. His effort of 53 feet, 7 inches met the NCAA provisional qualifying standard. __________________________________________________________________________ April 14, 2008 Men's Distance/Middle Distance Kenyon sophomore Matt Riley (Lawrence, KS/Lawrence) took first in the 10,000 meters in 32:03.81 as the Lords placed 18th in the team standings at the All-Ohio Championships. Men's Sprints/Hurdles Ohio Wesleyan sophomore Steve Brown (Redford Twp., MI/Redford) placed second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.96, the best effort in the North Coast this season, to lead the Battling Bishops to a first- place finish at the All-Ohio Championships. Men's Field Earlham sophomore Chris Shaw (Anderson, IN/Pendleton Hts.) led the Quakers at the Indiana Little State meet with a third-place finish in the discus. He broke a 40-year-old school record with a toss of 167 feet, one inch. The previous record (160-5) was established in 1968 by Chris Brown. __________________________________________________________________________ April 7, 2008 Men's Middle Distance/Distance Allegheny senior Ryan Place (Meshoppen, PA/Elk Lake) won the 1500 meters at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational. He met the NCAA provisional qualifying standard in the process with a time of 3:53.30. Men's Sprints/Hurdles Ohio Wesleyan junior Ryan Ellis (Columbus, OH/Dublin Scioto) won the 100 meters, was second in the 200 meters and ran a leg of the victorious 4x100-meter relay at OWU's Marv Frye Invitational. His times were 11.08 in the 100 and 22.34 in the 200. The relay posted a 42.85 clocking. Men's Field Ohio Wesleyan sophomore David Burke (Hudson, OH/Hudson) won the triple jump (13.67 meters/44 feet, 10 ¾ inches), long jump (6.69 meters/21 feet, 11 ½ inches) and was second in the high jump (1.88 meters/6 feet, 2 inches) at the Marv Frye Invitational. __________________________________________________________________________ March 31, 2008 Men's Middle Distance/Distance Ohio Wesleyan junior David Stefanik (Wooster, OH/Wooster) was second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Rhodes Invitational. He posted the top time in the conference in the event this season with a 9:41.90 clocking. Men's Sprints/Hurdles Allegheny's Chas Moore-Seymore (Buffalo, NY/St. Francis) was sixth in the 100 meters at the Western Pennsylvania Championships. His time of 11.62 is the best in the NCAC this season. Moore-Seymore also placed eighth in the 200 meters with a time of 22.98 seconds. Men's Field Junior Andrew Bloom (Powell, OH/Worthington Kilbourne) won the decathlon at the Rhodes Invitational. He scored 5708 points, just shy of meeting the NCAA Division III provisional qualifying standard. During the competition, he qualified for the NCAC championships in the long jump (20-5.75) and the javelin (151 feet). __________________________________________________________________________ March 24, 2008 Men's Distance Allegheny freshman Zac Ross (Meadville, PA/Meadville Area) placed fifth of 40 runners in the 5,000 meters at the North Carolina-Charlotte Invitational. Ross was clocked with a time of 14:58.49. Men's Sprints/Hurdles Denison junior Michael Barnes (Gates Mills, OH/Mayfield) won the 200 meters at the Rose-Hulman Invitational with a time of 22.65 seconds. In a photo finish in the 100 meters, he wound up in second place with a time of 11.31 seconds. Men's Field Kenyon freshman Will Koehler (Hillsboro, OR/Hillsboro) was second in the discus at the Muskingum Invitational. His throw of 49.31 meters (132 feet, 3 inches) was the second-best effort in Lord history. __________________________________________________________________________
