November 14, 2007 Borland, a midfielder, finished with eight goals and four assists for 20 points over 19 games (1.05 points per game). He led the Tigers to third place in the North Coast with a 6-2-1 record in conference play. He ranked fifth in the NCAC in points scored, fifth in goals, sixth in points per game and seventh in goals per game. Borland makes his second straight appearance on the first team and also was a second team All-NCAC selection in 2005. Sloan, a defender, makes his fourth appearance on the all-conference team and is the only member of this year's squad to be so honored. He also makes his second consecutive appearance on the first team after earning second-team nods in 2004 and 2005. Sloan scored one goal and three assists for a Gator team that finished fourth with a 5-4-0 record and was second in the conference with 0.68 goals allowed per game. Hiram sophomore David Krems (Lakewood, OH/Lakewood) and Denison junior David Folt (Hudson, OH/Hudson) are also repeat first-team selections. Wittenberg junior Shane Price (Minford, OH/Minford) moves up to the first team after earning second-team recognition in 2006. Ohio Wesleyan senior Nick Skoczen (Chagrin Falls, OH/Kenston) and Wittenberg senior Ben McAnnis-Entenman (Portland, OR/Cleveland) move up to the first team after earning honorable mention honors last season. Kenyon freshman forward Felix Hoffman (Bergheim, Germany/Trinity-Pawling) earned Newcomer of the Year recognition after he led the North Coast in scoring wtih 2.12 points per game on a conference-best 16 goals and four assists. He recorded six game-winning goals for the NCAC Champion Lords. Ohio Wesleyan head coach Jay Martin is the NCAC Men's Coach of the Year for the seventh time and second year in a row. Martin guided the Battling Bishops to a second-place finish, their sixth NCAC Tournament crown and their NCAA-record 30th appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament. He has compiled an overall record of 530-104-44 (.814) in his 31 years at the helm of the Ohio Wesleyan men's program. |
