The title is Denison's first in the seven-year history of the season- ending tourney. __________________________________________________________________________ October 29, 2006 Freshman goalkeeper Nate Rausch (Cuyahoga Falls, OH/Cuyahoga Falls) made 14 saves and allowed two goals in 200 minutes of play, leading Hiram past Allegheny, 3-1, and to a 1-1 double overtime time tie with NCAC champion Ohio Wesleyan. Hiram finished with a 2-5-2 conference record, 9-6-2 overall. __________________________________________________________________________ October 21, 2006 Wittenberg sophomore Matt Borland (Kettering, OH/Alter) scored a goal and added two assists in a 4-0 win over Wabash and then scored twice, including what would prove to be the game-winner, in a 3-0 win over Hiram. He also added an assist against the Terriers to finish the week with three goals and three assists. His offensive output moved him into a tie for the team lead with 13 points. __________________________________________________________________________ October 15, 2006 Ohio Wesleyan junior Jamison Dague (Bexley, OH/Bexley) blanked two opponents last week, leading the Bishops to sole possession of first place in the NCAC. In the 2-0 win over Oberlin and the 2-0 win over Wittenberg, Dague stopped a combined eight of the 18 shots he faced, including five against Wittenberg. __________________________________________________________________________ October 8, 2006 Kenyon freshman David Gold (Woodland Hills, CA/El Camino Real) scored the game-winner in the 65th minute to lead the Lords past nationally ranked Allegheny (21st), 1-0. The win, which halted a two-game losing skid, was the first conference victory of the season for the Lords. __________________________________________________________________________ October 2, 2006 Oberlin junior midfielder Sam Zackheim (Portland, OR/Lincoln) scored twice for the Yeomen to hand them their first NCAC win of the season - a 3-1 victory over Hiram which snapped the Terriers six-game win streak. __________________________________________________________________________ September 24, 2006 Oberlin sophomore midfielder Zachary Lewis (Pleasantville, NY/Byrum Hills) had two goals in a 6-2 defeat of Bluffton, then assisted on a goal in the Yeomen's 3-1 defeat of Westminster. __________________________________________________________________________ September 17, 2006 Wooster sophomore Steve Fracasso (Wadsworth, OH/Wadsworth) scored the game-tying goal on a header in a 2-1 overtime win over Marietta, with just 2:41 left in regulation. Fracasso also assisted on the lone goal in a 1-0 defeat of John Carroll. __________________________________________________________________________ September 10, 2006 Wabash junior forward Gary Simkus (Highland, IN/Highland) scored a hat trick in the second-half to hand the Little Giants their first win of the season, a 4-1 win over Haverford in the opening game of the Haverford Jimmy Miller Tournament. Simkus also scored a goal and added an assist in Wabash’s 3-2 loss to Rose-Hulman. He finished the week with four goals and an assist. Simkus leads Wabash with four goals and nine total points. __________________________________________________________________________ September 3, 2006 Earlham junior forward Nhlanhla Maduna (Ezzulwini, Swaziland/Li Po Chun) led the Quakers to a 2-0 week to open the 2006 season. He scored the game winner in overtime to give Earlham a 2-1 decision over Thomas More, and assisted on the lone goal in a 1-0 defeat of Principia. __________________________________________________________________________
