Kenyon (4-0, 17-3) swept three opponents 12-1 on the way to its sixth team title at the NCAC Championships held at Ohio Wesleyan (see attached bracket). The Lords, the top seed in the East, capped their championship run with a 4-1 triumph over last year's champ, Denison, in the finals. The Big Red (4-0, 11-12) were the top seed in the West. Kenyon claims its first title in seven years; the Lords last won the NCAC title in 1995. Denison has claimed 11 league championships, including five straight from 1997-2001. Kenyon marched through its first two matches, 8-0, topping Earlham (1-3, 12-8) and Wittenberg (3-1, 14-4) to reach the final. Denison defeated Oberlin (1-3, 6-16) and Wooster (3-1, 13-10) before falling to the Lords. Wittenberg captured third with a 4-1 win over Wooster in the consolation final. |
