May 14, 2010 Dropsey makes her third consecutive appearance as a member of the first team, and picks up her second straight Player of the Year honor. Seibel is Pitcher of the Year for the second time, and makes her third appearance on the All-NCAC team. She returns to the first team after earning second-team accolades in 2009 and a first-team nod in 2008, when she was also pitcher of the year. In 2010, Seibel finished in the top five in the conference in wins (7), innings pitched (62.1) and strikeouts (32). Seibel posted a 7-2 record on the mound in conference play, and led the Battling Bishops in earned-run average (1.42) and shutouts (2) in 10 appearances. In addition to Dropsey, there are three repeat first-team selections. Denison seniors Brie Berkopec (Mars, PA/Mars Senior) and Alex Murray (Mayfield Hts., OH/NDCL), along with Kenyon senior Ellen Witkowski (Banks, OR/St. Mary's Academy) are members of the first team for the second straight season. Witkowski is a four-time All-NCAC honoree; she earned second-team recognition in 2007 and 2008 before moving up to the first team in '09 and '10. Both Berkopec and Murray were members of the second team in 2008. Jamie Samuel (Malibu, CA/Malibu), a Kenyon freshman utility player, earns Newcomer of the Year honors. She led Kenyon with a .489 batting average in conference play, and 11 runs batted in. Denison's Tiffany Ozbun earns Coach of the Year recognition for the second consecutive year after she led the Big Red to a share of their seventh NCAC title. She has a 79-45 (.637) record in three years at Denison. |
