_________________________________________________________________________ April 30, 2007 PLAYER OF THE WEEK Hiram sophomore Chastine Romanello (Phoenix, AZ/Barry Goldwater) tallied 13 RBI to lead the Terriers to a 4-3 week. She increased her Hiram record-setting, single-season RBI total to 37. She also hit her second homer of the season in a 4-3 loss to Denison. She finished the week 11- for-23 (.478) with four runs scored and three doubles added to her totals over seven games and was 1-for-1 on stolen base attempts. PITCHER OF THE WEEK Ohio Wesleyan freshman right-hander Candice Mayweather (Lewis Center, OH/Olentangy) did not allow a hit in the opener of a doubleheader against Mount St. Joseph until a one-out infield single in the fourth. She finished with a four-hit shutout, with four strikeouts and one walk. Ohio Wesleyan picked up the 4-0 win. __________________________________________________________________________ April 23, 2007 PLAYER OF THE WEEK Hiram sophomore Stephanie Zunic (Canfield, OH/Canfield) went 13-for-24 (.542) with five doubles, seven RBI and a homer as the Terriers rolled to a 5-1 week. She also scored eight runs in the victories over Ohio Wesleyan, Oberlin and the split with Allegheny. PITCHER OF THE WEEK Sophomore Rachel Hatcher (West Carrollton, OH/West Carrollton) hurled the first no-hitter in Wittenberg softball history last week, as the Tigers went a perfect 6-0 in NCAC play. She went the distance in a 6-0 victory over Oberlin, allowing just one baserunner on an error in the second inning. She was 3-0 on the week, tossing a pair of complete games and allowing 11 hits and six earned runs in 16.2 innings pitched. __________________________________________________________________________ April 16, 2007 PLAYER OF THE WEEK Allegheny sophomore Rachel Ryan (West Salem, OH/Northwestern) led the Gators past Wooster, 9-1 and 11-5, and Kenyon, 5-4 and 5-0, for a perfect 4-0 week. She batted .667 (8-for-12) over the four games, with five of her eight hits going for extra bases, including three home runs. She drove in six runs and scored seven and was perfect in 24 attempts in the field. Against Wooster, she was a perfect 6-for-6 at the plate, and hit two of her homers in the nighcap of the twinbill, tying an Allegheny single-game record. She was also intentionally walked in that game. Ryan totaled 19 bases for a slugging percentage of 1.583 and had an on-base percentage of .714. PITCHER OF THE WEEK Denison senior Rachel Thomas (Gahanna, OH/Lincoln) earned a 9-4 complete- game victory over Ohio Wesleyan. She allowed two earned runs off five hits and struck out a season-high 11 batters. __________________________________________________________________________ April 9, 2007 PLAYER OF THE WEEK Hiram sophomore Megan Samuel (Olmsted Falls, OH/Olmsted Falls) was 3-for-4 (.750) with two RBI and two runs scored as the Terriers split their NCAC- opening doubleheader with Wooster. Hiram won the first game, 3-0, then f ell, 2-1, in the night cap. Samuel also walked twice and was 1-for-2 on stolen base attempts. PITCHER OF THE WEEK Allegheny freshman Allison Korotkin (Birmingham, MI/Detroit, Country Day) hurled a five-inning shutout against Oberlin, leading the Gators to a 12-0 victory while striking out four and giving up four hits - all singles. She improving her record to 2-1 this season. __________________________________________________________________________ April 2, 2007 PLAYER OF THE WEEK Denison senior Andrea Carella (North York, Ontario/Michael Power) posted a .609 on-base percentage and hit 9-for-18 as the Big Red went 3-3 last week. She is second on the team with a .426 batting average. PITCHER OF THE WEEK Kenyon junior Stephanie Hemmingson (Beaverton, OR/Woodrow Wilson) threw 13 innings and went 1-1. She gave up nine hits and two earned runs, fanning three batters and posting a 1.08 ERA for the week. __________________________________________________________________________ March 26, 2007 PLAYER OF THE WEEK Wittenberg junior Sarah Fetters (Maumee, OH/Maumee) went 12-for-22 (.545) over six games last week. From her leadoff spot, she scored eight runs, collected seven RBI and hit the first two homers of her career - in game two against Transylvania (a 10-0 win) and in game two against Heidelberg (a 6-1 win). PITCHER OF THE WEEK Denison freshman Sam Rumschlag (Carmel, IN/Cathedral) improved to 2-0 on the season and lowered her earned run average to 0.93 with her seven- strikeout victory in the first game of a twinbill against Wilmington; the Big Red won 2-0. Overall, she threw 9.1 innings last week and did not allow a run. She struck out seven and allowed six hits. __________________________________________________________________________ March 19, 2007 PLAYER OF THE WEEK Wittenberg senior Lucy Huelsman (Wellington, OH/Wellington) hit safely in all four of the Tigers' games last week. She finished the week 6-of-11 (.545) with six runs and six RBI. She dinged her first career grand slam in an 8-0 run-rule shortened victory over Baldwin-Wallace and also slammed a game-winning two-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning in ta 7-6 victory over John Carroll. PITCHER OF THE WEEK Wooster freshman Andrea Kelley (Westerville, OH/Westerville South) got her career off to a 3-3 start last week with a 2.35 ERA, while striking out 27 batters over 38.2 innings of work. __________________________________________________________________________
