  • Denison Leads NCAC In Final Learfield Standings
    June 01, 2018
    Following the completion of the 2017-18 NCAA Division III competition season, four North Coast Athletic Conference schools ranked in the top-70 of the Learfield Directors' Cup standings, led by Denison finishing 44th out of 323 eligible institutions with 382.00 total points. Schools must have competed in an NCAA Championship event during the academic year in order to compile points in the standings.

    Denison won two outright league titles in men's swimming & diving and women's lacrosse, shared the league title with Kenyon in field hockey and posted 14 additional top-five finishes during the 2017-18 academic year to win its league-leading 16th North Coast Athletic Conference All-Sports Championship.
  • 24 NCAC Players Earn NFF Hampshire Society Honors

    The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced the members of the 2018 NFF Hampshire Honor Society, which is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers. An all-time high 1,252 players from a record 304 schools qualified for membership in the society’s 12th year, highlighted by 24 total players from the NCAC collecting the prestigious honor.
  • Mohorcic Named Finalist For Wooden Citizenship Cup

    Wooster senior football player Patrick Mohorcic (Highland Hts., OH/Gilmour Academy) was named as one of four finalists in the collegiate division for the 14th Annual Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup, as announced by Athletes for a Better World on Wednesday, January 31st. Named for legendary hall of fame basketball coach John Wooden, the Wooden Cup is given to the most outstanding role model among athletes.

    Kenyon senior defensive lineman Jacob LaPoint (Toledo, OH/Whitmer) and DePauw senior offensive lineman Jonathon Brugman (Lorton, VA/Menwith Hall, England) were both named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division III Football Team as selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America, it was announced on Wednesday, December 13th.

  • Mohorcic Named Captain of 2017 Good Works Team

    Wooster senior center Patrick Mohorcic (Highland Hts., OH/Gilmour Acad.) was voted by college football fans as the 2017 Allstate American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Good Works Team® captain for his exceptional community service accomplishments and dedication to giving back to those in need, as announced by Allstate Insurance Company and the AFCA on Monday. To commemorate his achievement, Mohorcic will be recognized by Allstate and the AFCA during the live broadcast of The Home Depot College Football Awards airing on ESPN at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7.
  • 9 Named To Academic All-District Football Team

    The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) released the 2017 Academic All-District Football Teams on November 16th and nine total North Coast student-athletes were named to the Div. III District 4 & 7 teams.
  • Tigers Fall Against Frostburg State In NCAA Opener

    Wittenberg (10-1) saw its 2017 season come to a close with a 35-7 home loss against Frostburg State in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Football Championships on Saturday (11/18) in Springfield, Ohio.

    Wooster senior quarterback Gary Muntean (Poland, OH/Struthers), Wittenberg senior defensive lineman Chandler Ferko (Plain City, OH/Jonathan Alder) and Oberlin freshman punter Bryant Walker (South Lyon, MI/East) have been named the Players of the Year to highlight the 2017 All-North Coast Athletic Conference football selections.

As league champions, the Tigers have earned the NCAC’s automatic bid into the 2017 NCAA Division III Football Championships where they will host Frostburg State (9-1) in the opening round on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.

    As has been the case for most of the 2017 NCAC football season, the North Coast was once again well represented on the D3football.com Team of the Week, this time getting representation from Denison junior free safety Ryan Zinkula (Northbrook, IL/Loyola Academy) and Kenyon junior wide receiver Ian Robertson (Aliso Viejo, Aliso Niguel) for their performances on the gridiron last weekend.

    Wooster sophomore Nick Strausbaugh's (Fredericksburg, OH/Waynedale) big day in the 51-41 win over Kenyon College on Saturday afternoon parlayed into a spot on D3football.com's Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware, as announced by the website on Tuesday morning. Strausbaugh's honor marks the third-straight week Wooster's had an honoree on the team.

Wooster sophomore Robert Alvarez (Ft. Washington, MD/Riverdale Baptist) was one of two defensive ends named to the team, while Oberlin freshman Bryant Walker (South Lyon, MI/East) was the lone punter named to the squad.
