After another big game for the Gators in their 57-40 win over Hiram, Allegheny sophomore Alex Victor (Miami, FL/G. Holmes Braddock) was been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week, for games of Sept. 28 - Oct.2.
The D3football.com Team of the Week recognizes the top performer at each position from across the nation, with nominees put forth by sports information personnel.
In the Gator win, Victor hauled in four catches for 174 yards and three touchdowns, while also gaining 19 yards on the ground. The touchdowns went for 37, 67, and 65 yards, and through 13 career games, the sophomore now has 14 touchdown receptions, already ranking in the top five in Allegheny program history. The 174 receiving yards are the seventh most recorded in a game by a Gator, and helped Victor improve his NCAC-leading 27.8 yards per catch average. At the halfway mark of the season, Victor has made 16 catches, and leads the team with 445 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
Victor becomes the first Allegheny selection to the D3football.com Team of the Week since the Gator offensive line (Zack Palmer, Conor Sharp, Taylor El-Ani, Ty Pryor, and Jesse Battaglia) was honored following week four of the 2012 season, when the Gators defeated Wabash, 20-17.
In the midst of their bye week, Victor and the Gators will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 14, when they travel to Springfield, Ohio, to take on defending NCAC champion Wittenberg.
