  • 2014 Academic All-District At-Large Teams Announced

    The 2014 Capital Once Academic All-District At-Large Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), was announced on May 15th with the North Coast placing 12 student-athletes on the list.
  • 20 NCAC Field Hockey Athletes Named To NFHCA Div. III All-Region Team

    Twenty North Coast Athletic Conference field hockey athletes were named to the 2013 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Div. III All-Great Lakes Region Team.

    Kenyon sophomore midfielder Maddie Breschi (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) and DePauw senior defender Chelsea Cutler (Victoria, B.C./Mt. Douglas Secondary) have been named the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively, to highlight the 2013 All-North Coast Athletic Conference field hockey selections.

    North Coast Athletic Conference field hockey tournament champion DePauw (17-4) has earned its second-straight berth into the 24-team NCAA Division III Field Hockey Tournament by earning the league’s automatic bid. The Tigers advanced to the NCAA semifinals last year and are making their fourth overall appearance in the national tournament.

    DePauw (15-4, 13-1) and Denison (17-1, 13-1) were crowned Co-Champions of the NCAC for the second time in the past three years. Wittenberg leads the league with 10 titles all-time, followed by Denison (9), Ohio Wesleyan and Wooster (8), DePauw (3), Oberlin (2) and Kenyon (1).

    Denison (16-1-0, 12-1-0), DePauw (14-4-0, 12-1-0) and Kenyon (11-6-0, 9-4-0) have all earned spots in the 2013 NCAC Field Hockey Tournament heading into the final week of the regular season.

    Denison (14-1-0, 10-1-0) and DePauw (12-4-0, 10-1-0) have each punched a ticket into the North Coast Tournament heading into the final two weeks of the regular season. While the Big Red stepped out of conference play to pick up two wins last week, the Tigers earned NCAC victories over Wooster (8-7-0, 6-5-0) and Oberlin (4-10-0, 3-8-0).

    Denison (12-1-0, 10-1-0) snapped DePauw’s (10-4-0, 8-1-0) 22-game NCAC winning streak with a, 2-0, victory Sunday. The win for Denison marks just the second regular season loss for the Tigers with their only other loss coming back in October of 2011 also to the Big Red.

DePauw travels to Denison on Sunday, highlighting a week loaded with nine conference contests.

    DePauw continues to impress as the Tigers have now won seven straight contests and own a perfect 6-0 mark in conference action. This week features five NCAC matches, including DePauw which will put its perfect conference record on the line at Wittenberg on Saturday.

    The DePauw University field hockey team, which opens NCAC competition this weekend with home contests against Kenyon and Denison, dropped five spots to No. 16 in the most recent National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Poll, released on September, 10th.

    The North Coast entertains a full slate of conference matches this week with all eight teams playing at least one conference contest. League action gets started on Tuesday as Wooster (1-1, 0-0) travels to Ohio Wesleyan (1-2, 0-1) in the Fighting Scots’ conference opener. Wednesday will see Kenyon (0-0, 2-2) go on the road to face Earlham (2-0, 0-0) as each team seeks its first conference win of the year.

Looking ahead this week, Denison (0-0, 0-0) travels to Ohio Wesleyan (0-1, 0-0) today (9/3) to usher in the 2013 portion of the North Coast schedule.
