2004 NCAC Field Hockey Players of the Week

Nov. 7, 2004

Wittenberg senior Blair Ufer (Ann Arbor, MI/Pioneer) led the Tigers to 
their third straight NCAC Field Hockey Tournament title with two goals 
and three assists in two games. In the championship game, she scored off 
a penalty stroke with 19:45 left in the first half to hand Wittenberg 
its first lead of the game. The Tigers went on to defeat Kenyon, 4-2.  
Ufer, who found the back of the cage as part of a penalty corner play 
for the gamewinner in Wittenberg's 3-2 semifinal win over Wooster, was 
named the NCAC Tournament MVP for her efforts.

Oct. 31, 2004

Wittenberg senior Blair Ufer (Ann Arbor, MI/Pioneer) scored both of 
Wittenberg's goals in a 2-1 overtime win over Oberlin, leading the Tigers 
to their third straight NCAC championship.

Kenyon senior Liz Aragona (Bronxville, NY/Bronxville) assisted on both 
goals in the Ladies' 2-1 overtime win over Wittenberg.  She leads her 
team with seven assists this season.

Oberlin junior Meg Reitz (Mansfield, MA/Doherty) had a hand in four of 
the five goals in the Yeowomen's 5-1 defeat of Earlham. She scored once 
and assisted on three others.

Wittenberg sophomore forward Katy Barrett (Powell, OH/Watterson) scored 
five goals during the week, including her first career hat trick in a 5-1 
defeat of Centre.  She notched the first goal of the game in all three 
Tiger victories, two of which were in conference play.

Wooster sophomore forward Katy Baron (River Forest, IL/Oak Park-River Forest)
scored twice, highlighed by a double-overtime game-winner against Denison.  
She also added a goal and an assist in her team's defeat of OWU, as the Scots
went 3-0 in conference play.

Wittenberg junior forward Julia Wickham (Columbus OH/Grandview) scored
the game-winning goal both of the Tigers' conference victories last
week.  She had the topper in a 3-2 victory over Wooster, and the
second goal in a 6-1 rout of Earlham. She totalled three goals and
an assist last week, and leads the conference with three game-winners
this season.

September 19, 2004

Denison senior Karen Lancaster (Hurst, TX/L.D. Bell) led Denison to a
2-1 record last week by scoring two goals and adding two assists in
the Big Red’s three games. She scored the game-winning goal in the 40th
minute against Wittenberg off an assist from freshman Read Powel
(Shaker Heights, OH/Hathaway Brown). Lancaster has 48 points in her
career.

Kenyon sophomore goalkeeer Kimberly Brown (Landenberg, PA/Sanford
School) made seven saves during the Ladies' conference-opening, 2-1
victory over Wooster.  She is 3-0 on the season, has 20 saves and a
.909 saves percentage.

Wooster senior Kelley Hubbell (Vienna, VA/James Madison) scored five
points in three games last week, including overtime game winners against
both  Washington & Jefferson (1-0) and U. of the South (3-2).
