2008 NCAC Field Hockey Players of the Week

Nov. 2
Wooster junior forward Amanda Artman (Shaker Hts., OH/Shaker Hts.) scored all three of the Fighting Scots’ goals for her third hat trick of the season in a 3-1 defeat of Ohio Wesleyan that secured Wooster's seventh NCAC championship. Artman has 25 goals in 2008, the most by a Wooster player since 1982.
Oct. 26
Ohio Wesleyan sophomore attacker Lilly Jianas (Shawnee Mission, KS/Pembroke Hill) scored twice in the second half, including the game-winner, in a 3-2 victory over Kenyon. The Battling Bishops, who also defeated Denison, 2-1, and kept hold of its first-place tie with Wooster.
Oct. 19
Wittenberg sophomore forward Boo Vernon (Lake Bluff, IL/Cushing Academy) scored a hat trick in a 4-2 victory over Wooster. It was the Fighting Scots' first loss of the conference season, and the victory extended the Tigers' win streak to five.
Oct. 12
Wooster junior forward Amanda Artman (Shaker Hts., OH/Shaker Hts.) scored two goals and assisted on another to lead the Fighting Scots to a 1-1 week and sole possession of first place in the North Coast. She converted a penalty stroke and assisted on a breakaway goal to lead Wooster to a 4-0 win over an Ohio Wesleyan squad that was previously undefeated in NCAC play and had been tied with the Scots for the conference lead. She also contributed a goal in a 2-1 loss to Frostburg St.
Oct. 7
Wittenberg sophomore Tori Casanta (Mason, OH/Cor Jesu Academy) scored five goals in her team's 1-1 week. She scored four in a 5-1 defeat of Earlham, and accounted for her team's only score in a 2-1 loss to Ohio Wesleyan. The Tigers are 4-5 overall and 2-4 in the North Coast.
September 28
Earlham junior Cassie Gage (West Carrollton, OH/Kettering Fairmont) scored at the 88:55 mark in double overtime to lead the Quakers past Denison, 1-0. It was the team's first overtime victory at home since 2003.
September 21
Ohio Wesleyan sophomore attacker Christa Cocumelli (Dublin, OH/Bishop Watterson) scored twice as the Battling Bishops defeated Denison, 3-1, and improved to 2-0 in conference play.
September 13
Freshman Abby Westcott (Lake Forest, IL/St. Andrew's School) scored once and assisted on another as Kenyon defeated Oberlin, 2-0.
September 7

Wooster sophomore Eileen Barrer (Ann Arbor, MI/Pioneer) scored once in each game as the Fighting Scots went 1-1 last week. She gave Wooster 1-0 lead lead in the first half of a 2-0 regional victory over Centre. Barrer followed with a goal during the Scots' comeback attempt which trimmed a 6-1 deficit to 6-5 in a loss at Ithaca.
