    The North Coast Athletic Conference was well represented on the 2014 Capital One Academic All-American Division III At-Large Team as nine student-athletes landed on one of the three teams. Kenyon senior swimmer Andrew Chavalier (Golden, CO/Home School) highlighted the men’s list be being named the Academic All-American of the Year.

    The 2014 NCAA Division III Golf Championships concluded last Friday, May 16, with the men competing at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina and the women battling it out on the El Campeon Course at the Mission Inn and Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. The Wittenberg University men’s team finished the four-day event in fifth-place with 1,203 strokes (303-294-304-302), while the DePauw women finished eighth overall with 1,323 strokes (328-329-342-324). Schreiner captured the national title on the men’s side with 1,185 strokes and Rhodes raised the Walnut & Bronze on the women’s side with 1,256 total strokes.

    The 2014 Capital Once Academic All-District At-Large Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), was announced on May 15th with the North Coast placing 12 student-athletes on the list.

    No. 8 DePauw shot a final-round 324 and finished with a four-round 1,323 which was good for eighth place at the NCAA Division III Championships. Rhodes was the team champion with a 1256.

    The Wittenberg Tigers posted a solid score in the fourth and final round and then spent an entertaining afternoon watching the scoreboard at the NCAA Division III Tournament. By the time the last teams finished, the Tigers had moved up an amazing seven spots to finish in fifth place.

Four-time defending NCAC men’s golf champion Wittenberg leads after the first event with a 36-hole team total of 607 (300-307), while DePauw, the two-time defending women’s golf champion, sits atop the women’s leaderboard after the first event with a two-day team total of 641 (322-319).

Nieman and Osterbrock were the only two athletes on the list to win three of the NCAC's two major awards during the last decade of competition.

    While playing in one of the top collegiate golf events in the nation was certainly a thrill for Oliver White (Lower Gwynedd, PA/Heritage Academy), the opportunity to represent his nation's heroes was the bigger honor for the Allegheny senior. For the second time in his career, White was selected to participate in the Patriot All-American, a three-round tournament comprised of PING All-Americans from all three NCAA classifications and the NAIA at the Wigwam Resort near Phoenix, Ariz. Dec. 28-31.
