Ohio Wesleyan junior Matt Hunter won the NCAC Indoor Track & Field heptathlon for the second year in a row last weekend after totaling a league record score of 5,155 points.

February 24th    


Ben Plohr, Allegheny
(Penobscot, ME/George Stevens Academy)

Allegheny sophomore Ben Plohr posted the fastest 800 by an NCAC athlete this season, and was the highest D-III finisher in the event, finishing in 1:54.09 at the Kent State Tune-Up.


Ronnie Posthauer, Wabash
(Ladoga, IN/Fountain Central)


Wabash junior Ronnie Posthauer posted the sixth fastest time in the nation, winning the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.19 to help led the Little Giants to a win at the DePauw Indoor Classic.

Derek De St Jean, Wabash
(St Johns, IN/Hanover)


Wabash junior Derek De St Jean won both throwing events at the DePauw Indoor Classic. His winning mark of 16.77 meters (55 feet) in the weight throw was a personal best and was a full meter further than the second-place finisher. He won the shot put with a season-best effort of 15.17 meters (49 feet, 9.25 inches).
February 17th    

Billy McManus, Wabash
(Fort Wayne, IN/Bishop Luers)


Wabash junior Billy McManus set a new Wabash record in the indoor 5,000-meter run, winning the event at the Fred Wilt Boilermaker Invitational. McManus won with a time of 14:44.91, topping the former record of 14:50.79 set by Kevin McCarthy ‘12 in 2012.


Victor Banjo, Wittenberg

Wittenberg junior Victor Banjo broke his own school records winning the 60- and 200-meter dashes in times of 6.85 seconds and 22.15 seconds at the All-Ohio Meet.


Aaron Melsop, Wittenberg 
(Westerville, OH/DeSales)


Wittenberg sophomore Aaron Melsop notched a record mark in the long jump at 7.05 meters for second place at the All-Ohio Meet.
February 10th    


Josh Urso, Oberlin
(Washington, PA/Trinity)


Oberlin sophomore Josh Urso helped the Yeomen to a first-place finish at Oberlin’s own Crimson and Gold Invite winning the 800-meters in a time of 1:57.8. Urso also anchored the winning 4x400 relay team that broke the tape in 3:34.48.


Quenton Richards, Denison
(Franklin, OH/Franklin)


Denison sophomore Quenton Richards racked up three top-four performances to lead the Big Red to a fifth-place finish at Denison’s own Bob Shannon Invite. In the 60-meter dash, Richards shaved one thousandth of a second off his school record time, posting a time of 7.01 to finish second in the event. 


Matt Margida, Wooster

Wooster sophomore Matt Margida impressed at the Bob Shannon Invite, earning fourth-place in the shot put (48’2.75”) and 11th-place in the weight throw (42’6.75”)

Fabian House, Wabash
(Muncie, IN/Muncie Central)


Wabash sophomore Fabian House helped the Little Giants to a second-place finish at the RHIT Invite after winning the mile run with a season-best time of 4:20.37. He also finished second in the 800-meter run by posting a time of 1:58.90.


Matt Hunter, Ohio Wesleyan

Ohio Wesleyan junior Matt Hunter just missed setting the school-record in the 200-meters crossing the line in a time of 22.26 at the SPIRE Midwest Open.


Derek De St Jean, Wabash
(St. John, IN/Hanover)


Wabash junior Derek De St Jean won both throwing events at the Rose-Hulman Engineer Invitational. He posted a mark of 16.68 meters (54 feet, 8.75 inches) in the weight throw and won the shot put with a distance of 14.85 meters (48 feet, 8.75 inches).
January 27th    


Jimmy Taylor, Oberlin
(Charlottesville, VA/Western Ablemarle)


Oberlin senior Jimmy Taylor turned it strong finished last week as the Yeomen competed at the non-scoring Findlay Classic. Taylor finished sixth in the 800-meters in a time of 2:02.23, then crossed the tape in 11th in the mile run with a time of 4:28.89.


Victor Banjo, Wittenberg
(Sugarland, TX/Stephen F. Austin)


Wittenberg senior Victor Banjo raced to two records as the Tigers finished fourth among four teams at Denison’s Lid Lifter. Banjo won the 60-meter dash while setting a Mitchell Fieldhouse record with a time of 6.91, and broke the Wittenberg school record for the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.42 to win the event.


Wallace Branche, Denison
(Charlotte, NC/Woodberry Forest School (Va.))


Denison sophomore Wallace Branche helped guide the Big Red to a second-place finish at their annual home Lid-Lifter Meet, winning the triple jump after recording a distance of 44’10.25” in his second jump of the afternoon.
January 20th    


Billy McManus, Wabash

Wabash sophomore Billy McManus set a new Robert H. Johnson meet mark in the 5,000-meter run. McManus won the event with a time of 15:20.70.


Colin McShane, Ohio Wesleyan
(Columbus, OH/Olentangy)


Ohio Wesleyan freshman Colin McShane led the Battling Bishops in their victory at the OWU Triangular by finishing second in the 60-meter dash, including posting the fastest time of the day in prelims (7.02). He was also a member of a pair of first-place relay squads, the 4x200 (1:32.61) and 4x400-meter relay (3:34.31).


Mark Stair, Wooster
(Wooster, OH/Triway)


Wooster freshman Mark Stair broke a school record by clearing 6 feet, 7.5 inches in winning the high jump. The winning jump broke a 36-year old record and helped guide the Scots to a dual meet victory over Oberlin.
