2003-04 NCAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

February 22, 2004

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - DISTANCE/MIDDLE DISTANCE RUNNER
Denison freshman Elaine Binkley (Columbus, OH/Bishop Watterson) won the 
5000 meters at the Greater Columbus meet with a school-record time of 
18:18.93.

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - SPRINTS/HURDLES
Earlham junior Tashi Johnson (Bloomington, IN/South) won the 200 meters 
in school and meet-record time (25.91) at the DePauw Invitational. She 
also placed second in the 55 meters with a time of 7.34 seconds.

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - FIELD
Earlham senior Carmen Batts-Porter (Indianapolis, IN/Cardinal Ritter) won 
the shot put at the DePauw Invitational with a school-record measurement 
of 40 feet, 4 inches.

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - DISTANCE/MIDDLE DISTANCE RUNNER
Denison senior Julie Hufnagel (Ann Arbor, MI/Marian) finished third in the 
1500 meters at the All-Ohio meet hosted by Ohio Northern, with a time of 
4:49.78. She also was part of Denison’s first-place distance medley relay 
team.

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - SPRINTS/HURDLES
Ohio Wesleyan senior Akeya Terrell (Gahanna, OH/Westerville North) won 
the 400 meters at the All-Ohio meet hosted by Ohio Northern. Her time of 
57.65 set a school record and met the NCAA provisional qualifying 
standard.

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - FIELD
Wooster sophomore Jill Berner (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia) won the pole vault 
at the Oberlin Invitational. She broke her own school record in the 
process by clearing 10 feet, 4 inches.

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - DISTANCE/MIDDLE DISTANCE RUNNER
Denison freshman Chris Collins (Chagrin Falls, OH/Chagrin Falls) won the 
3000 meters at the Big Red Invitational with a time of 10:45.55.

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - SPRINTS/HURDLES
Ohio Wesleyan senior Akeya Terrell (Gahanna, OH/Westerville North) won the 
400 meters at the Big Red Invitational with a time of 58.85. She met the 
NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the event.

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - FIELD
Denison senior Laura Finkes (Hebron, OH/Lakewood) won the shot put at the 
Big Red Invitational. Her throw of 43 feet, 6 inches was an NCAA 
provisional qualifying distance, and also set Denison school and 
field house records.

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - DISTANCE/MIDDLE DISTANCE RUNNER
Wittenberg’s sprint medley relay team of junior Tina Valerius (Cincinnati, 
OH/Mt. Notre Dame), freshman Jessica McClish (Shelby, OH/Shelby), freshman Antonette Green (Euclid, OH/Euclid) and senior Kelly Zilli (Dayton, OH/
Kettering Alter) won the event in a meet-record time of 4:22.57 at the 
NCAC Relays.

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - SPRINTS/HURDLES
Denison’s 55-meter hurdles relay team of senior Melanie Cluss (Uniontown, PA/Laurel Highlands) and sophomore Meagan Coneybeer (Uniontown, PA/
Uniontown) set a meet record of 17.90 seconds to win the event at the 
NCAC Relays. Cluss finished first with a time of 8.74 seconds and Coneybeer 
was timed in 9.16.

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - FIELD
Oberlin’s triple jump relay of junior Teresa Collins (Stone Mountain, GA/
Woodward Academy) and senior Shannon Houlihan (Gorham, ME/Gorham) won the 
event at the NCAC Relays with a meet-record distance of 67 feet, 10 1/2 
inches.  Collins leapt 34 feet, 2 inches and Houlihan sailed 33 feet, 
8 1/2 inches.

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - DISTANCE/MIDDLE DISTANCE RUNNER
Wittenberg senior Kelli Zilli (Dayton, OH/Alter) won the 800 meters (2:25.92) 
at Capital’s Crusader Classic.

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - SPRINTS/HURDLES
Denison senior Jackie Berner (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia) won the 55 meters (7.38) 
and 200 meters (26.24) at the Denison Lid-Lifter.

WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - FIELD
Oberlin junior Teresa Collins (Stone Mountain, GA/Woodward Academy) won the triple jump (35-0 1/4) at the Oberlin Lid-Lifter.
