February 24, 2008 WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - DISTANCE/MIDDLE DISTANCE RUNNER Allegheny senior Eva Weyers (Delanson, N.Y./Duanesburg) finished 11th in the in the 3,000-meter run at the Kent State Tune-Up. She crossed the line in 10:46.85. WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - SPRINTS/HURDLES Ohio Wesleyan sophomore Casey Ridgeway (Fredericktown, OH/Fredericktown) was 11th in the 200-meter dash at the Kent State Tune-Up. She set a school record in the event with a clocking of 26.15 seconds. WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - FIELD EVENTS Allegheny's Liz Straus (Kirtland, OH/Kirtland) tied for ninth in the high jump at the Kent State Tune-Up. She cleared 5 feet, 1 inch, which was her indoor personal best effort. __________________________________________________________________________ February 16, 2008 WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - DISTANCE/MIDDLE DISTANCE RUNNER Oberlin freshman Joanna Johnson (Chico, CA/Chico) won the 5,000 meters with a personal-best time of 18:15.47, more than eight seconds better than the second-place runner. WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - SPRINTS/HURDLES Oberlin senior Anna Chernin (Ann Arbor, MI/Ann Arbor Central) was fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.61 and was the anchor leg for the Yeowomen's second-place 4x400-meter relay team that finished 4:08.45. WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - FIELD EVENTS Competing at the Baldwin-Wallace Mid-February meet, Allegheny senior Liz Earley (Venetia, PA/Peters Township) upped her NCAA "B" qualifying toss in the weight throw to 55-3.5. That effort is the fourth-best in NCAA III this season. Earley also took fifth place in the shot put (37-5.25) at B-W. __________________________________________________________________________ February 10, 2008 WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - DISTANCE/MIDDLE DISTANCE RUNNER At the Boston Valentine Invitational, Allegheny freshman Ogechi Nwokedi (Oil City, PA/Oil City) took 34th in the 800 in a time of 2:19.58, becoming the first NCAC runner to break 2:20 this season in the event. WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - SPRINTS/HURDLES Earlham senior Sara Bohall (Westport, IN/Columbus East) won two events and anchored a winning relay team to lead the Quakers at the Anderson Invitational. Bohall won the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.58 seconds to break her own school record of 8.74 established in 2005. She also won the very next event, finishing with a time of 1:02.12 in the 400. Bohall also helped the 1600-meter relay to first place with a time of 4:21.55. WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - FIELD EVENTS Denison sophomore Emily Hammeren (Olmsted Falls, OH/Olmsted Falls) cleared 10 feet, 6 inches in the pole vault to take home first place and in the process set a school record as she helped the Big Red to a fifth-place team finish at the Greater Columbus Division III Invitational hosted by Otterbein. __________________________________________________________________________ February 3, 2008 WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - DISTANCE/MIDDLE DISTANCE RUNNER Oberlin's 5,000-meter runners Joanna Johnson (Chico, CA/Chico) and Marie Barnett (Acton, MA/Acto-Boxborough) finished first (18:31.67) and second (18:51.01) individually and combined to win their event at the NCAC Relays. The Yeowomen finished second in the final team standings at the NCAC Relays February 2. WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - SPRINTS/HURDLES Ohio Wesleyan’s 4x400-meter relay, made up of Lainey Kekic (Canfield, OH/Western Reserve), Rachael Newman (Strongsville, OH/Strongsville), Casey Ridgeway (Fredericktown, OH/Fredericktown) and Kara Reiter (Chardon, OH/Chardon) won their event at the NCAC Relays with a time of 4:11.97. The Battling Bishops won the meet on February 2. WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - FIELD EVENTS Allegheny's pole vault combination of Sarah Sammel (Pittsburgh, PA/Bethel Park) and Jessica Pennisi (Milltown, NJ/East Brunswick) won their event at the NCAC Relays. Sammel posted the top individual effort when she cleared 3.20 meters/10 feet, 6 inches, while Pennisi was seventh when she cleared 2.30 meters/7 feet, 6.5 inches. The Gators finished eighth in the team standings at the meet on February 2. __________________________________________________________________________ January 27, 2008 WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - DISTANCE/MIDDLE DISTANCE RUNNER Wooster freshman Suzanne Capehart (Oak Hill, VA/Oakton) won the mile (5:32.21) at the Denison Lid-Lifter on Saturday, Jan. 26. WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - SPRINTS/HURDLES Allegheny freshman Becca Lendyak (Cowansville, PA/Ford City) finished second in the 55-meters at Fredonia on Jan. 19. She finished with a time of 7.66 seconds. WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK - FIELD EVENTS Allegheny senior Emily Pfeufer (St. Mary's, PA/Elk County Catholic) leapt 10.86 meters (35 feet, 7.75 inches) in the triple jump and 5.34 meters (17 feet, 6.25 inches) in the long jump at Fredonia on Jan. 19. __________________________________________________________________________
