Wooster sophomore Carolyn Webster became the first athlete in program in history to win the NCAC Women’s Indoor Track & Field pentathlon championship after accumulating 3,098 points.

February 20th

 

Marija Crook, Oberlin
(Carrboro, NC/Chapel Hill) 
 

Oberlin freshman Marija Crook led the Yeowomen to a first-place finish at the Greater Cleveland Championships by winning the mile with a time of 5:21.31. 

Alyssa Acevedo, Ohio Wesleyan
(Medina, OH/Medina) 
 

Ohio Wesleyan sophomore Alyssa Acevedo won the 60-meter hurdles at the non-scored Mount Union tune-up with a time of 9.37 seconds. 

Jasmine Keegan, Oberlin
(Maplewood, NJ/Columbia HS)  

Oberlin freshman Jasmine Keegan turned in an impressive performance at the Greater Cleveland Championships last weekend with three top five finishes. Keegan won the shot put (12.24m), finished third in the high jump (1.52m) and was fifth in the weight throw with a toss of 14.77 meters.

Oberlin freshman Shannon Wargo turned in an impressive performance at the All-Ohio Championships by finishing third in the mile with a time of 5:10.25. Wargo’s time is currently the fastest time in the NCAC. 

Lilah Drafts-Johnson, Oberlin
(Melrose, MA/Melrose)  

Oberlin junior Lilah Drafts-Johnson put together an impressive weekend at the All-Ohio Championships, setting two individual school records. Drafts-Johnson won the 400-meter dash in 57.12 and finished second in the 200 with a time of 25.90.

Ana Richardson, Oberlin
(Eugene, OR/South Eugene)  

Oberlin junior Ana Richardson led the Yeowomen to a fourth-place team finish at the All-Ohio Championship, winning the weight throw with a mark of 17.25m and finishing seventh in the shot put with a throw of 12.69m. 

February 6th

 

Grace Moses, Kenyon
(Great Falls, VA/Potomac School)  

Kenyon freshman Grace Moses finished second in the 800-meters (2:25.03) to help lead the Ladies to a fourth-place finish at the at Bob Shannon Invitational. Moses also ran a leg on the second-place DMR with an impressive 800-meter split of 2:24.60. 

Tyra Barnes, Wittenberg
(Austintown, OH/Austintown Fitch)
  

Wittenberg freshman Tyra Barnes helped lead the Tigers to an 11th-place finish at the Ohio Northern Joe Banks Invitational by finishing third in the 400-meters (1:00.74) and fourth in the 60-meters in 8.17. 

Ave Spencer, Oberlin
(Goodyear, AZ/Millennium) 

Oberlin senior Ave Spencer led the Yeowomen at the non-scored Dan Kinsey Invite winning the pole vault after clearing a school record mark of 3.55 meters.

Sarah Fowler, Ohio Wesleyan
(Mount Vernon, OH/Fredericktown) 
 

Ohio Wesleyan senior Sarah Fowler was the top Div. III finisher in the 3,000-meters, crossing the line in a time of 9:52.80 at the non-scored SPIRE Midwest Open. 

Ajai Brooks, Denison
(Washington, DC/Washington Latin Public Charter School) 
 

Denison sophomore Ajai Brooks was a double-winner to help lead the Big Red to a second-place finish at the Fighting Scot Invite. Brooks won the 60-and 200-meter dashes in 7.96 and 26.26, respectively.

Cirrus Robinson, Ohio Wesleyan
(Ashland, OH/Ashland) 
 

Ohio Wesleyan freshman Cirrus Robinson won the high jump at the non-scored SPIRE Midwest Open after clearing 1.68 meters.

Emily Forner, Allegheny
(Beaver, PA/Beaver Area)  

Allegheny sophomore Emily Forner topped the 35-runner field in the 3,000-meter run at the Carnegie Mellon Invite with a time of 10:19.94. The time currently ranks 20th in NCAA Division III.

Amanda Balzer, Allegheny
(Canonsburg, PA/Chartiers-Houston)
  

Allegheny senior Amanda Balzer took second overall in the 60-meter hurdles at the Carnegie Mellon Invite with a time of 9.2 seconds. That time is the second fastest in program history.

Cirrus Robinson, Ohio Wesleyan
(Ashland, OH/Ashland) 
 

Ohio Wesleyan freshman Cirrus Robinson helped lead the Bishops to a first-place finish at the Wooster Tri after winning the high jump and clearing a Scot Center record of 1.68 meters.

January 16th

 

Shannon Wargo, Oberlin

Oberlin freshman Shannon Wargo turned in a first-place finish in the women’s 800-meters at the non-scoring Crimson and Gold Invite by crossing the line in 2:28.29. Wargo also ran a leg on the winning 4x400 relay with a time of 4:19.59.

Oberlin junior Lilah Drafts-Johnson  won four different events at the Crimson and Gold Invite last weekend. Draft-Johnson won the 200-(27.14) and 400-meter (59.71) dashes and ran legs on the winning 4x200 (1:52.56) and 4x400 (4:19.59) relays.

Naeisha McClain, Oberlin
(Columbus, GA/Brookstone) 
 

Oberlin freshman Naeisha McClain recorded a first-place finish in the shot put at the non-scoring Crimson and Gold Invite meet with a mark of 12.87 meters. McClain also placed secon in the weight throw with a toss of 14.86 meters.

Amanda Balzer, Allegheny
(Canonsburg, PA/Chartiers-Houston) 
 

Allegheny senior Amanda Balzer was the only Division III runner to compete in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles at the Kent State Golden Gala where she finished fifth overall with a time of 9.36 seconds. She also finished ninth overall in the 300-meter dash in a time of 43.60.

Monique Newton, Oberlin
(Sacramento, CA/Rancho Cordova)
  

Oberlin junior Monique Newton finished fourth overall in the women’s shot put at the Kent State Golden Gala after posting the top effort to date in Div. III with a toss of 49’09.25”. Newton’s distance not only re-set the school record, but it is also the farthest any Div. III female has thrown the shot put in the last three years.

Linnea Halsten, Oberlin

Oberlin sophomore Linnea Halsten turned in a first-place finish in the women’s 3,000-meters at the non-scoring Case Spartan Holiday Classic. Halsten crossed the line in 10:25.22. 

Imani Cook-Gist, Oberlin
(Santa Monica, CA/Harvard Westlake)  

Oberlin sophomore Imani Cook-Gist won the 60-meter dash in a new program-best 7.89 seconds and also ran a leg on the second-place 4x400 relay team at the non-scoring Case Spartan Holiday Classic.

Monique Newton, Oberlin
(Sacramento, CA/Rancho Cordova)
  

Oberlin junior Monique Newton recorded a first-place finish in the shot put at the non-scoring Case Spartan Holiday Classic meet with a mark of 13.67 meters. Newton also placed secon in the weight throw with a toss of 16.45 meters.
