The NCAC landed three men's basketball players on the 2016 D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region Team, highlighted by Ohio Wesleyan sophomore Nate Axelrod (Dublin, OH/Coffman) being named the Player of the Year in Great Lakes Region.
Axelrod, who was also named the NCAC Player of the Year earlier this month, elevated to the top team in the Great Lakes Region after collecting third-team laurels and also being named the region's Rookie of the Year in 2015.
Wooster sophomore Spencer Williams (Bedford, OH/Orange) and Denison junior Jett Speelman (Granville, OH/Newark Catholic) both made their debut on the D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region Team as second- and third-team selections, respectively.
Players were nominated for these awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools, who were contacted multiple times as the season wound down to remind them to make their players eligible. There were 776 players nominated nationwide. The ballot was then made available to SIDs, who voted for a predetermined number of players in their region. It's the 15th season D3hoops.com has named All-Region teams.
