Ohio Wesleyan University junior Nate Axelrod (Dublin, OH/Coffman) was named to the Academic All-District men's basketball teams, it was announced on February 9th.
Axelrod was a first-team Academic All-District® Four selection and will now advance to the Academic All-America® ballot.
Axelrod, the Battling Bishops' point guard, averages 17.7 points and a league-leading 4.5 assists per game. He was named to the D3hoops Team of the Week and selected as North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week back on January 16th after averaging 25.5 points & 4.5 assists in wins over Hiram and Allegheny. He also surpassed the career 1000-point mark in the team's second game this season. Axelrod is a finance economics major.
The Academic All-District® teams are selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America, with District VII consisting of schools in Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. To be considered for the teams, one must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better and be a starter or important reserve.
