Second-seeded Ohio Wesleyan (6-1, 13-5) claimed the inaugural NCAC Men's Lacrosse Tournament Championship with an 10-9 victory over top-seeded Denison (7-0, 13-3) on Saturday, April 27th, in Granville, Ohio. With the victory, the Battling Bishops have earned the NCAC's automatic bid into the 2013 NCAA Div. III Tournament. The Championship field is set to be announced May 5th, with first round action scheduled for May 8th.

Ohio Wesleyan defeated Wooster (4-3, 9-6), 13-9, on Tuesday to advance to the championship game against the Big Red. The Bishops leaned on junior Casey Helms (Sandwich, MA/Bridgton Acad.) with three goals, while sophomore Ryan McMahon (Springfield, VA/The Bullis School) corralled eight saves in goal to advance to the finals. In the championship game, Helms scored what proved to be the deciding goal and McMahon made a crucial save during the final minute of regulation time to help OWU edge the 13th-ranked Big Red for the first time since the 2007 season, snapping a string of eight straight losses. Sophomore attacker John Umbach (Montclair, NJ/Montclair), senior midfielder Pat Bassett (Naperville, IL/North) and freshman midfielder Tate Rolland (Brunswick, MD/Brunswick) scored twice for OWU, while senior attacker Colin Short (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-DeWitt) collected a goal and three assists. McMahon finished with 17 saves against 45 shots by the Big Red. Joining McMahon, Short and Bassett were sophomores Garrett Van Schaick (Grayslake, IL/Warren Township)Steve Barnett (Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington) and Kyle Foster (Medfield, MA/Avon Old Farms (CT)) represented on the all-tournament team.

Denison claimed its first-ever NCAC Tournament victory after defeating fourth-seeded Kenyon (4-3, 8-8), 8-2 in the semifinals. The Big Red owned a 41-19 shot advantage in the contest and also secured 28 groundballs to Kenyon's 18. Blair Farinholt (Richmond, VA/St. Christopher's School) and sophomore Will Koontz (Cranberry Twp., PA/Seneca Valley) each tallied two goals for the Big Red, while freshman net-minder Chris Thomas (Cockeysville, MD/Loyola Blakefield) secured four saves in goal. The Big Red was represented on the all-tournament team by senior Spencer Riehl (Reisterstown, MD/St. Paul's School), junior Eddie Vita (Coronado, CA/Coronado), junior Chip Phillips (Alexandria, VA/ St. Stephen's and St. Agnes), junior Austin Campbell (Berwyn, PA/Conestoga) and Farinholt.

Wooster was represented on the all-tournament team by senior Matt Ranck (Union Lake, MI/Walled Lake).
