Denison Cruises Past Centre In NCAA Tournament

Denison University, the 2014 NCAC regular season and tournament champions, improved to 18-0 on the season after posting a 19-4 victory over Centre in the opening round of the 2014 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament on May 7th.

The Big Red overwhelmed the Colonels in the first half with 10 unanswered goals, led by a natural hat trick from junior attack Teddy Powell (Jacksonville, FL/The Bolles School) to close out the first quarter.

Sophomore midfielder Blair Farinholt (Richmond, VA/St. Christopher's School) and freshman Luke Walsh (Buffalo, NY/Nichols School/Deerfield Acad.) {pictured} also capped off their afternoon's with hat trick performances to lead DU to the 15-goal victory.

The Big Red dominated the Colonels in nearly every statistical category, leading them in shots, 50-20, groundballs, 45-20, and faceoffs, 21-5.

With the victory, Denison advances to the second round of the national tournament where they will host Aurora (16-3) in the second round Saturday, on May 10th, at 2:00 p.m. Aurora advanced to the round of 16 for the second consecutive season after defeating Adrian, 22-13, on Wednesday in Adrian, Mich.
