Nationally-ranked Denison (4-0, 10-2) and Ohio Wesleyan (4-0, 10-2) currently share the top spot in the NCAC men’s lacrosse standings; however, that tie will be broken this Sunday as the Big Red are set to host the Bishops at 1:00 p.m. in Granville.

DENISON, ranked eighth in the most recent USILA poll, improved to 10-2 and 4-0 in the NCAC after wins over Hiram and Oberlin. Brooks Davy (Wilmington, NC/Episcopal) led the offense with 10 goals on the week, while Hannibal George (Pittsburgh, PA/The Kiski School) paced the defense with eight ground balls and three caused turnovers.

DEPAUW moved to 2-2 in the NCAC with wins over Wabash and Wooster. In the two games, Nate Greenberg (Westlake, OH/Westlake) and Steen Jorgensen (Kenilworth, IL/New Trier) each scored seven goals, while Ben Sherman (Zionsville, IN/Zionsville) led with nine points on three goals and a team-high six assists. Joe Garvey (Chicago, IL/St. Ignatius) won 27 of 40 faceoffs (67.5%) and led with 18 ground balls. Charlie Robson (Cincinnati, OH/St. Xavier) recorded 31 saves and had a 72.1% save percentage.

HIRAM went 1-1 last week, with a 19-0 loss to No. 8 Denison and a 17-16 win over Wabash. The victory over Wabash marks the first conference victory since the 2015-16 matchup with the Little Giants. Against Wabash, the Terriers erased a five-goal, fourth-quarter deficit to win 17-16. Sophomore Liam Osborne (Melbourne Beach, FL/Melbourne) came up with a clutch save in the waning seconds to preserve the win. He finished the game with four saves in the second half. Offensively, Tim Stucky (Bellbrook, OH/Bellbrook) led the way with seven points (5g/2a). Nick Rollason (Pickerington, OH/Pickerington North) and Evan Pinney (Richfield, OH/Revere) each added four goals, while Pinney collected two assists en route to six points.

KENYON split a couple of conference contests last week. The Lords suffered a 12-9 loss at Wooster on Wednesday, but bounced back Saturday with a 17-13 home win over Wittenberg. In the two games combined, senior Pierce Kraft (Philadelphia, PA/William Penn Charter) led the Lords’ offense with 10 points on six goals and four assists.

OBERLIN gave No. 8 Denison a battle, trailing just 5-4 at the half before the Big Red pulled away for a 14-6 win. Sophomore goalie Calvin Filson (Williamstown, MA/Mt. Greylock Regional) made a career-high 17 saves, while freshman Tom Decker (Bethesda, MD/Maret School) scored two times to run his team-leading point total to 30 on the year.

OHIO WESLEYAN, ranked 12th in the most recent USILA poll, battled through tough weather conditions to pick up an NCAC victory against Witteneberg in the Bishops’ lone game last week. Junior Max Tennant (Englewood, CO/Cherry Creek) finished with six goals and one assist to lead OWU in the win.

WABASH lost both games last week, starting with a 14-4 defeat to DePauw in a weather-shortened contest Wednesday afternoon. Steven Stark (Indianapolis, IN/Cathedral) led Wabash with two goals in the contest. Tucker Dixon (Zionsville, IN/Zionsville) scored a team-high six goals for Wabash in its game at Hiram Saturday. The Little Giants lost 17-16 on a game-winning goal scored by the Terriers in the final 39 seconds of the game.

WITTENBERG dropped a pair of NCAC contests last week, falling to Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday and Kenyon on Saturday. Lucas Klever (Lebanon, OH/Moeller) finished the week with four goals and three assists in the two losses.

WOOSTER improved to 4-0 in league play for the second straight year with a 12-9 win over Kenyon on Wednesday. Wooster won 17-of-24 faceoffs, including 14-of-16 over the last three periods. On Saturday first-year Connor Mangan (Sewickley, PA/Quaker Valley) moved in the program’s single-season top-10 list for groundballs, and he has 64 in his rookie season.
