  • Wooster Names Zidron Head Men's Soccer Coach
    April 15, 2015
    Andy Zidron, who won two North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament titles as an assistant and an NCAC regular season championship as a player at Denison University, will be the next head men's soccer coach at The College of Wooster, announced the school's director of athletics, Keith Beckett, on Monday. Zidron's official start date is June 15.

    The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) released the 2014 Continental Tire NCAA Division III Men's Soccer All-Region squads on December 10th, with 10 NCAC student-athletes named to the Great Lakes Region squad.
  • OWU Falls in National Semifinal Contest

    The Ohio Wesleyan men's soccer team lost to Tufts, 3-0, in the semifinals of the NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament on Friday, December 5, in Kansas City, Missouri. It was Ohio Wesleyan’s 10th appearance in the National semifinal and second in the last four years. The Battling Bishops finished the year with a record of 17-5-4, including the program's seventh consecutive NCAC regular season title after posting a conference record of 8-0-1.

Both squads advanced to the sectional semifinals after each team notched a pair of tournament victories last weekend. Ohio Wesleyan holds a 6-1-1 head-to-head advantage over Kenyon in NCAA Tournament contests, advancing in seven of the eight matchups.

    North Coast Athletic Conference tournament champion Kenyon (17-1-1) earned its second-straight bid into the 61-team NCAA Div. III Men’s Soccer Tournament, while Ohio Wesleyan (15-4-0) extended its NCAA-record by earning its 37th berth into the championship field after receiving one of the 18 at-large bids. 2014 marks the seventh-straight year the North Coast will be represented by two teams in the national field.

    Kenyon (17-1-1) claimed its first NCAC Men's Soccer Tournament title with 2-1 overtime victory over Ohio Wesleyan (15-4-2) in the Championship match on Saturday, November 8 in Delaware, Ohio. With the win the Lords earn the NCAC's automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament.

    Ohio Wesleyan (14-3-2, 8-0-1) earned its seventh-straight North Coast championship with a pair of wins last week. The Battling Bishops defeated Denison and Hiram, to collect their league-leading 23rd conference title. Kenyon has won the second most conference crowns with six, followed by Wooster (3), Denison (2) and Wittenberg (1).

The Bishops have posted four consecutive shutouts and have won eight of their last nine games. Another full slate of North Coast action is scheduled for this week with four games on Tuesday, including Kenyon (12-1-0, 4-1-0) hosting Ohio Wesleyan, and five more on Saturday.
