Wabash College junior defender Michael Tanchevski earned a place on the 2018 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Men's Scholar All-America Second Team, announced Monday afternoon.
Tanchevski, a biology major and chemistry minor from Crown Point, Indiana with a 3.54 cumulative grade point average, also earned 2018 Men's DIII All-North/Central Scholar All-Region First Team honors from the United Soccer Coaches (USC). He was selected to the All-North Coast Athletic Conference First Team and the USC All-Great Lakes Region First Team earlier this season.
Tanchevski started all 19 games for the Little Giants and helped the squad to a 12-4-3 overall record and a 5-2-2 NCAC mark to finish tied for third in the conference standings. He played as part of a Wabash defense that recorded ten shutouts for the season to tie for the second-most in school history. The Little Giants finished the season ranked 38th in shutout percentage among NCAA DIII programs with a mark of 52.6 percent and 62nd out of 414 total teams in goals-against-average at .843. Tanchevski scored three goals for Wabash on the season, posting the game-winner in the Little Giants' 2-0 season-opening victory against Franklin in addition to the lone goal in a 1-0 win at Allegheny.
