DePauw senior goalie Nathan Sprenkel put on an impressive performance in goal to help DPU capture the 2011 NCAC Tournament Championship. Sprenkel corralled nine saves in the Tigers’ 2-1 overtime victory over Hiram in the semifinals, and then hauled in 10 saves in DPU’s 4-2 triumph over Ohio Wesleyan in the championship match.

Ohio Weselyan senior Travis Wall lifted the Battling Bishops to their 20th NCAC title after assisting on the game-winner in OWU’s 2-1 victory over Kenyon on Wednesday and netting the game-winner in the Bishops’ 1-0 triumph on Saturday. In addition, Wall tallied the first goal in Wednesday’s match against the Lords.

October 23rd

George Skelly, Wooster

Wooster sophomore George Skelly, a two-year starting defender for the Fighting Scots, scored his first career goal after heading in a ball in the 81st minute to lift Wooster to a 2-1 victory over Oberlin. The win marked the Fighting Scots first NCAC victory since October 28, 2009.

October 16th

Sam Meyer, DePauw
(Northfield, IL/New Trier Twp.)

DePauw senior forward Sam Meyer scored the game-winning goal in both Tiger victories last week. He found the back of the net in the second minute of overtime in a 2-1 victory over Wittenberg and jump started the 4-1 victory over Wooster by scoring the first two goals.

October 9th

J.J. Dix, Denison
(Lebanon, OH/Lebanon)

Denison freshman forward J.J. Dix sparked the Big Red’s 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Wooster on Saturday as he assisted on Denison’s first goal in the 76th minute to make the score 1-1, and put the Big Red up, 2-1, just three minutes later on his third goal of the season. The victory over Wooster elevated Denison into a three-way tie for first-place in the league standings.

Oberlin senior Oliver Miller-Farrell scored the game-winner for the Yeomen late in the first half in their 1-0 triumph over NCAC foe Wabash. In addition, the senior assisted on the game-winning goal in Oberlin’s 3-0 victory over Heidelberg. 

September 18th

DePauw freshman Andy Morrison opened the week with a goal and an assist in DPU’s 3-2 victory over in-state-rival Rose-Hulman, and ended the week by scoring the game-winner in the 47th minute of DePauw’s 1-0 victory over Denison in conference play. It was the first NCAC victory in the history of DePauw’s men’s soccer program.

September 11th

David DelGreco, Allegheny

Allegheny junior midfielder David DelGreco scored three goals on the week, including a two-goal effort in the Gators 5-2 win over Grove City and the game-winner in their 2-1 overtime victory over Heidelberg.

September 5th

Hiram junior goalkeeper Joe Rottinger led the Terriers to a 1-0-1 week with 10 saves. Rottinger made seven stops in a 1-1 double overtime tie with defending national champion and top ranked Messiah. He added three more stops in Hiram’s 2-1 decision over Hamline.
