DePauw (27-20) dropped a tough 2-1 contest against third-seeded Muskingum in the opening round of the Trine Regional in Indiana. The Tigers opened up a 1-0 lead after Linsey Button (Ballwin, MO/Lafayette) scored in the bottom of the first, but Muskingum scored a run in the fourth and fifth inning for the 2-1 victory as DePauw was only able to collect four hits the rest of the game. The loss forced DPU into the loser’s bracket.

On Saturday, sophomore Sammi Bell (Columbia, MO/Rock Bridge Senior) collected five RBI and scored three more runs to help keep DePauw’s NCAA Tournament run alive. The Tigers eliminated Washington & Jefferson following a 19-7 victory. DePauw entered the seventh with the game tied, 5-5, but set the NCAC record for runs scored in an inning with 14 on 10 total hits en route to the win.

DePauw saw it’s season come to a close in the second elimination game of the NCAA Trine Regional after falling to the host Thunder, 4-1.

Bell along with junior pitcher Kahla Nolan (West Chicago, IL/Wheaton North) earned NCAA Trine Regional All-Tournament team honors.

Bell hit .417 (5-for-12) on the weekend with five RBI, four runs scored, a stolen base, home run and eight total bases. Nolan posted a 1-2 record for the tournament in the circle, striking out 11 in 21 innings of work. She also held opponents to a .282 batting average.
