In a light week of NCAC Softball action, the league is off to an impressive 15-7 record against non-conference opponents. Numerous conference teams will open up their 2015 season this week on spring break trips in Florida. 

ALLEGHENY will open the 2015 season on Friday, March 13th against Shenandoah in Salem, VA. The Gators will head to Florida for their spring break trip after the four-game tournament in Virginia.

DENISON will open the 2015 season on Sunday, March 15th, on its spring break trip in Tucson, Arizona, against Central at 2:00 p.m.

DEPAUW is off to a 6-2 start, including a 4-0 sweep in the first weekend of February. Taylor Golden (Chicago, IL/Trinity) is hitting .400 (8-20) and leads the team with nine RBI.

HIRAM opened the 2015 season with a pair of setbacks against nationally-ranked foes. The Terriers fell to No. 8 Illinois Wesleyan in six innings. Sophomore Emily Syrjala (Seattle, WA/Seattle Prep) paced Hiram with two hits. Hiram also fell against No. 25 Simpson (Iowa). Sophomore Brittany Zajac (Corry, PA/Corry) fired a complete gave, giving up just two earned runs.

KENYON started its 2015 schedule with a 7-3 record during the first week of play at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Florida. During those 10 games, freshman Amanda Coyle (West Palm Beach, FL/Saint Andrew’s School) and senior Haley Howard (Glastonbury, CT/Glastonbury) both had 12 hits and batting averages that surpassed the .400 mark. In the pitchers circle, sophomore Sylvie Thomas (Seattle, WA/Holy Names Academy) is off to a 4-1 start with a 2.55 earned run average.

OBERLIN will open its 2015 season Saturday, March 14th with a doubleheader at Defiance.

OHIO WESLEYAN will open the 2015 season on Monday, March 9th, on its spring break trip in Fort Myers, Florida against Wisconsin Lutheran at 9:00 a.m.

WITTENBERG will open the 2015 season on Monday, March 9th, on its spring break trip in Clermont, Florida against Wheaton at 9:00 a.m.

WOOSTER got its season off to a good start, run-ruling Elms 14-4 and using a three-run first inning to get past Olivet, 4-1, Sunday in Fort Myers, Florida. Paige Goldberg (Hawthorn Woods, IL/Lake Zurich) went 4-for-8 with three runs scored, one double and two RBI during Saturday’s season-opening doubleheader.
