For the second year in a row, eight North Coast Athletic Conference Softball players were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches' Association (NFCA) All-Central Region Team.
Three of those players were named to the top team, including the 2016 NCAC Pitcher and Player of the Year honorees in Wittenberg sophomore Chelsea Zang (Cincinnati, OH/Seton) and DePauw sophomore designated player Lauren Godden (Carmel, IN/Carmel), respectively. The duo was joined on the top team by Denison sophomore utility player Sarah Herold (Orland Park, IL/Carl Sandburg).
Denison freshman third baseman Amanda Howell (Wilmette, IL/New Trier) was the lone selection on the second team, while four players were named to the third team, led 2016 NCAC Newcomer of the Year award winner, Wittenberg freshman Katy Baumgartner (Fishers, IN/Cathedral). Baumgartner was joined on the third team by the DePauw trio of senior Sammi Bell (Columbia, MO/Rock Bridge Sr.), sophomore Liz Getz (Bloomington, IN/South) and sophomore Emma Baldwin (Oak Park, IL/Oak Park-River Forest).
