Hiram Names Pohlman Head Softball Coach

Hiram College Director of Athletics Ellen Dempsey has announced that Scott Pohlman has been named the next head coach of the softball program.

Pohlman joins the Terriers after serving as an assistant coach at fellow North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) school Denison from 2009-11 and 2013-15. During his time there, the Big Red posted a 124-77 (.617) mark, with one NCAC title and four appearances in the NCAC Tournament.

At Denison, he helped 10 players receive All-Region honors and 13 players garner in First Team All-NCAC accolades.

From 2011-13 Pohlman served as an assistant coach at Division I North Carolina A&T. In his time there, Pohlam helped lower the team ERA by over three runs and saw four players named All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). Of the four players named All-MEAC, two earned First-Team honors.

Pohlman also has had head coaching stints at the high school level at Millersport and Sheridan high schools and also for numerous travel summer teams.

He graduated from Capital with a Bachelor of Arts in both Political Science and Criminial Justice Administration.
