Heading into the final two weeks of the regular season, Wittenberg (22-4, 8-0) and DePauw (12-14, 6-0) are the remaining teams left unbeaten in conference play and they have combined to win 19 of the last 20 contests. There are nine NCAC doubleheaders scheduled this week, highlighted by DePauw traveling to Wittenberg on Wednesday. 

ALLEGHENY fell in its two twinbills last week against John Carroll and Hiram. Taylor Massart (Sarver, PA/Freeport) batted .500 for the week with six hits and three runs. Megan Hazlett (West Middlesex, PA/West Middlesex) had three RBI. Kala Mahen (Mercer, PA/Lakeview) struck out 12 in two games, including nine in an appearance against Hiram.

DENISON went 2-2 in NCAC play last week to move to 21-9 on the year and 7-3 in NCAC play. The Big Red started off slow as they fell in a doubleheader against Wittenberg. In game one, Denison fell 3-0 and in game two they lost 5-3. But they rebounded at the end of the week with two wins over Wooster at home. In two games, Denison only allowed one run. The reigning NCAC pitcher of the week Sarah Herold (Orland Park, IL/Carl Sandburg) posted a 1.62 ERA and earned one victory. She threw a complete-game, four-hit shutout against Wooster. Offensively, Lauren Secaras (Wilmette, IL/New Trier) led the Big Red with a .385 batting average and a team-leading four RBI

DEPAUW extended its win streak to six and has now won nine of its last 10 games after sweeping two conference doubleheaders. The Tigers hit .359 for the week and held the opponents to just .198 batting. Emma Baldwin (Oak Park, IL/Oak Park River Forest) earned two wins and a save in the circle for the Tigers last week. Baldwin posted a 1.08 ERA in 13 innings pitched, striking out 17 and limiting opponents to a .133 average.

HIRAM went 2-2 last week, sweeping Allegheny and falling twice to Ohio Wesleyan. Brittany Zajac (Corry, PA/Corry) posted a 2-0 record in the circle with a 3.00 ERA, while Nikki Budner (Massillon, OH/Washington) went 6-for-15 at the plate with five RBI and two runs scored.

KENYON ran into No. 23 Wittenberg last Saturday and lost both games of a conference doubleheader by scores of 8-0. Madi Maldanado (Chicago, IL/Lane Technical) and Keely Sweet (Glencoe, MO/Westminster Christian) both had two hits to lead the Ladies offense.

OBERLIN completed a busy week with a 2-6 record, splitting doubleheaders with non-conference opponents Baldwin Wallace and Rose-Hulman, but dropping conference series against Wooster and DePauw. Senior Tori Polanski (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo) led the Yeowomen charge at the plate, batting .417 with 10 hits, four runs scored, 15 RBI and three homeruns, including a grand slam.

OHIO WESLEYAN posted a 2-2 record last week, dropping both contests to DePauw on Thursday, before bouncing back to grab a pair of wins against Hiram to even its record in conference play at 5-5. Senior infielder Taylor Dickson (Baltimore, OH/Liberty Union) led the Bishops on the week posting a .462 average at the plate with six hits, nine RBI and two runs scored, including going 6-for-8 with eight RBI in the doubleheader sweep of Hiram.

WITTENBERG, ranked 23rd in the most recent NFCA poll, posted a perfect 6-0 record last week with NCAC sweeps against Denison and Kenyon and a non-conference sweep of Anderson. The Tigers have now won 10-straight contests. Chelsea Zang (Cincinnati, OH/Seton) posted a 3-0 record in the circle for the Tigers and batted .333 at the plate with eight RBI.

WOOSTER went 2-2 last week in NCAC play, sweeping Oberlin before being swept by Denison. Junior Maddy Chase (Pleasant Prairie, WI/St. Joseph’s) tied the program’s single-game hit record, going 5-for-5 at the plate in a 10-2 win against Oberlin and moved into third-place in single-season program history with 47 hits.
