  • Denison Leads NCAC In Final Learfield Standings

    Following the completion of the 2017-18 NCAA Division III competition season, four North Coast Athletic Conference schools ranked in the top-70 of the Learfield Directors' Cup standings, led by Denison finishing 44th out of 323 eligible institutions with 382.00 total points. Schools must have competed in an NCAA Championship event during the academic year in order to compile points in the standings.
  • Five NCAC Players Named NFCA All-Region

    Five total players from the North Coast were named to the 2018 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-Central Region Team, highlighted by a pair of second-team selections in Denison senior first baseman Lauren Secares (Wilmette, IL/New Trier) and Hiram freshman outfielder Kaitlyn Hager (Rohnert Park, CA/Rancho Cotate).
  • Denison Wins Record 16th NCAC All-Sports Title

    Denison won two outright league titles in men's swimming & diving and women's lacrosse, shared the league title with Kenyon in field hockey and posted 14 additional top-five finishes during the 2017-18 academic year to win its league-leading 16th North Coast Athletic Conference All-Sports Championship.

    Denison senior Lauren Secares (Wilmette, IL/New Trier) and Wittenberg senior Chelsea Zang (Cincinnati, OH/Seton) were named the Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively, to highlight the 2018 All-North Coast Athletic Conference softball team after balloting by the league coaches.

    Heading into the final week of the regular season, Wittenberg (9-1, 17-15) holds a one game lead over DePauw (10-2, 16-17) and Denison (10-2, 19-7) for the top spot in league standings. With all four tournament spots still up in the air, North Coast action continues this week with three doubleheaders scheduled for Tuesday and the league schedule concluding on Saturday with four final doubleheaders.

    North Coast softball teams battled once again with all contests on Saturday and Sunday being postponed due to weather. DePauw (8-0, 14-15) remains the lone undefeated squad in NCAC play with two weeks remaining in the regular season, followed closely by Wittenberg (5-1, 13-15) and Denison (8-2, 15-7). There are nine NCAC doubleheaders scheduled this week, highlighted by Wittenberg visiting DePauw on Wednesday.

    DePauw (4-0, 8-14) and Wittenberg (2-0, 9-11) sit atop the conference standings following the opening weekend of NCAC play. The Indiana Tigers picked up sweeps against Wooster (0-2, 7-13) and Hiram (0-2, 7-11), while the Springfield Tigers collected a pair of wins over Allegheny (0-2, 6-9). Conference play continues this week with four NCAC doubleheaders scheduled for Wednesday and three more on Saturday.

    North Coast softball squads wrapped up spring break trips last week, as eight teams open up the conference portion of their schedules this Saturday. Highlights include Allegheny (6-7) traveling to Wittenberg (7-11) and Wooster (7-9) hosting DePauw (4-10). Additionally, Denison (3-1) and Oberlin (4-10) will hit the road to square off against Ohio Wesleyan (7-5) and Kenyon (14-8), respectively.

    The North Coast softball season is officially underway as six of the league’s nine teams have opened play and three more will open the year this week. Spring break trips continue this week as Ohio Wesleyan (0-0) and Wooster (0-0) travel to Florida and Denison (0-0) travels to Kentucky.

    Kenyon (4-0), DePauw (4-4) and Wittenberg (1-5) opened the 2018 North Coast softball season last week. The Ladies open their campaign with a perfect 4-0 mark for the first time since 2014. This week, Hiram, Allegheny and Oberlin will kick off their season as the Terriers head to Arizona, the Gators to Virginia Beach and Oberlin opens at Franciscan.
