GRANVILLE, Ohio -- Kenyon topped the women's team standings for the league-leading 26th time in history as competition wrapped up on Saturday night at the 2019 NCAC Swimming & Diving Championships at the Trumbull Aquatics Center on the campus of Denison University.
The Ladies, who won the league title with 1,937 points, logged 28 All-NCAC finishes in the 21 events contested and collected nine NCAC titles over the four-day meet to win the conference crown for the third time in the last four years. Denison finished second in the team standings with 1,882 points after winning 12 events and logging 28 All-NCAC finishes, while DePauw finished third overall with 1,194.5 points. Wooster finished fourth with 1,153 points, followed by Allegheny (1005.5), Ohio Wesleyan (827), Oberlin (495), Wittenberg (477) and Hiram (309).
Denison junior KT Kustritz (St. Paul, MN/St. Paul College) was named the NCAC Women's Swimmer of the Year after winning three individual event titles and swimming on three winning relays. Kustritz swam a leg on the winning 200 freestyle relay, which clocked in at 1:31.28, breaking the NCAC record and collecting an NCAA "B" cut, before logging an NCAA "A" cut and the NCAC record in the 200 IM (1:59.68). The Big Red closed out night two topping the podium in the 400 medley relay with an NCAA "B" cut time of 3:40.75. The junior notched her third-consecutive title in the 100 breaststroke in record-setting fashion as she posted a time of 1:00.74, which not only surpassed the NCAC record but also earned her another "A" cut. On the final night of the 2019 meet, Kustritz claimed the 200 breast title with an NCAC record and "B" cut time of 2:14.57, before ending the evening with the 400 free relay title with a "B" cut time of 3:22.30.
For the third year in a row, Denison junior Allison Fitzgerald (Grand Rapids, MI/Forest Hills Central) earned the NCAC Women's Diver of the Year Award after sweeping both boards at the meet. Fitzgerald posted regional qualifying scores in both events, scoring 447.40 points on the one-meter board and 443.20 in the three-meter competition.
In addition, Denison freshman Grace Kacmarek (Dexter, MI/Dexter) earned the 2019 NCAC Women's Newcomer of the Year honors after placing in the top-ten in three distance events. On Thursday, Kacmarek took sixth in the 500 free, touching the wall in 5:05.38. The next day the first-year placed fourth in the 400 IM (4:33.00) before closing out her first NCAC championship experience with a seventh-place finish in the 1650 with a "B" cut time of 17:26.75.
