The 2019 NCAC Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Combined Championships were held on Saturday, April 27, and Sunday, April 28, at Oberlin College.
Oberlin sophomore Adriano Atallah (New Rochelle, NY/Regis) won the decathlon with 6,210 total points, while Wooster senior Carolyn Webster (Fredericktown, OH/Fredericktown) won the heptathlon with 4,263 points.
Atallah earned the decathlon win after claiming seven first-place finishes including setting a new conference record in the 400 meter dash (49.57). He also took first in the 100 meter dash (11.02), 110 meter hurdles (15.95), long jump (6.45m), shot put (11.04m), discus throw (31.29m) and 1,500 meter run. He also placed third in the high jump (1.73m) and fifth in the javelin throw (41.01m).
Other top finishers in the decathlon included Ohio Wesleyan junior Jayson Blankenship (Medina, Ohio/Medina) who won the pole vault (4.24m), Wabash freshman Max Bigler (Grapevine, TX/Grapevine) who captured the win in the high jump (1.85m) and teammate Hunter Baehl (Haubstadt, IN/Gibson Southern) who won the javelin throw (53.38m).
Webster claimed the 2019 heptathlon victory after earning three first-place finishes in the high jump (1.61m), long jump (5.25m) and javelin throw (31.01m). The senior placed second in both the 100 meter hurdles (16.23) and 800 meter run (2:39.56) while also finishing fourth in the shot put (9.47m) and 200 meter dash (27.97).
Also in the heptathlon, Oberlin freshman Clare Tiedemann (New York, NY/Grace Church School) won the 100 meter hurdles (15.88) while junior teammate Christine Impara (Ashland, OR/Ashland) placed first in the 800 meter run (2:27.15). Denison freshman Ashley Schmoll (Newark, OH/Licking Valley) won the shot put (10.38m) and Wooster freshman Maya Vasta (Forest Park, GA/Forest Park) won the 200 meter dash (26.42).
The 2019 NCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held Friday-Saturday, May 3-4, at Kenyon College. Total team points from the combined events will be factored into next weekend's results toward the final team standings. Following the completion of the decathlon, Wabash has 17 points, while Oberlin has 14, Denison has five, Wooster has two and Ohio Wesleyan has one.
After the heptathlon, Wooster has earned 16 points, followed by Oberlin (11), Wittenberg (6), DePauw (5) and Denison (1).
