Combined Events Championships
Date: Saturday and Sunday, April 25-26 Host: Oberlin Admission: No charge
   

Ohio Wesleyan senior Andrew Bloom won his third straight decathlon crown, while Oberlin junior Madeline Schultz won the heptathlon at the North Coast Athletic Conference Combined events championship, hosted by Oberlin, April 25-26. Bloom set a school record with 6,270 points, to edge the second-place finisher, Oberlin senior Kyle Taljan, by 227 points. Bloom won the 400 meter dash, high jump, and 110-meter hurdles. His lowest finish was a fourth in the shot. Schultz scored 4,386 points to outscore runner-u,p junior Katelynn Riley of Wooster, by 494 points. Shultz's total was two points shy of a Yeowoman record. She won the high jump, and javelin and 800 meters and finished second in the other four events. Team points from this event will be will be factored into next weekend's results toward the final team standings.

The Ohio Wesleyan men won their second straight, and sixth overall, team title at the NCAC Championships, held at Ohio Wesleyan on May 1-2. The Battling Bishops totalled 226 points to outdistance runner-up Allegheny (129.50). Wabash (122.5) was third, followed by Oberlin (113.5) in fourth and Denison and Wooster (58) tied in fifth. Wittenberg (51.5), Earlham (46) and Kenyon (13) rounded out places seven through nine in the men's field. The Battling Bishop women claimed their seventh NCAC crown, and first since 2007, with 225 points. Oberlin wound up second with 134 points, followed by Allegheny (108) in third, Wittenberg (90.5) in fourth and Wooster (85.5) in fifth. Denison (83), Earlham (72), and Kenyon (18) filled out the women's field in places six through eight.
