Kenyon Senior Kayla Ernst Earns Academic All-America Honors

2012-13 Capital One Div. III Academic All-America Basketball Teams

Kenyon senior Kayla Ernst (Batavia, OH/Batavia) was the North Coast Athletic Conference's lone selection on the 2012-13 Capital One Academic All-America Team, it was announced on Tuesday, February 19, by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Ernst, an English major with a 3.74 grade point average, earned her first Academic All-American honor as a member of the second team. The two-time All-NCAC performer, enters the 2013 NCAC Women's Basketball Tournament as the league's leader in points (19.8 ppg) and field goal percentage (.541).

To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current insitution and be nominated by his/her sports information director (SID).

Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 15,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
