Three NCAC Women's Basketball Players Named To All-Great Lakes Region Team; DePauw's Huffman Named Coach Of The Year

2013 Women's Basketball All-Great Lakes Region Team

Three North Coast Athletic Conference women's basketball players were named to the All-Great Lakes Region Team and DePauw head coach Kris Huffman was tabbed Coach of the Year. Along with DePauw, Kenyon was also represented on one of the three all-region squads.

DePauw junior Alex Gasaway (Crawfordsville, IN/Crawfordsville), an All-NCAC first-team honoree for the first time in her career, was tabbed a first-team selection.

A pair of North Coast athletes earned second-team honors, including Kenyon senior Kayla Ernst (Batavia, OH/Batavia) and DePauw senior Kate Walker (Indianapolis, IN/ Perry Meridian). Ernst, the 2012-13 NCAC Player of the Year, is also three-time All-NCAC first-team selection. Walker joined her on the All-NCAC first team for the first time in her career.

Huffman earned Coach of the Year honors for the second time this season after also earning the feat in the North Coast for the second consecutive season. It marks the first time since 2010-11 that a coach from the North Coast has earned the accolade, when Sara Lee of Denison won the award.

Players were nominated for these awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools. There were 729 players nominated nationwide, a new high. The ballot was then made available to SIDs, who voted for a predetermined number of players in their region.
