DePauw Women's Basketball Advances to National Championship Game

DePauw (33-0) advanced to the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball National Championship game with a 59-56 victory over Williams (25-7) in the semifinals on Friday, March 15, in Holland, Mi.

The Tigers, who last won the Division III title in 2007, will face Wisconsin Whitewater (26-6) in the championship game, Saturday, March 16 at 7: 00 p.m.

DePauw picked up its 33rd straight win of the season in the semifinals, tying the DIII record for most wins in a season. Ironically the win came after the Tigers suffered their second half-time deficit of the 2012-13 season, albeit by one point. Williams had a 28-27 advantage at the half-way point, but DePauw found a way to fight back with a second-stanza run - as they have all season long. The Tigers shot 22-of-63 from the floor (34.9%), were 3-for-10 (30.0%) from behind the arc and were 12-for-20 (60.0%) from the free throw line. Individually, Ellie Pearson led all scorers with 15 points. She also chipped in a game-high nine rebounds as well as two blocks and four steals. Ali Ross followed with 13 points three boards and two steals. Defensively, DePauw was superb, with only five turnovers, 20 defensive rebounds and 20 second-chance points off Williams turnovers. Ellen Cook led Williams with 12 points and eight rebounds.
