DePauw saw its season come to a close on Saturday night (3/4) as the Tigers suffered a 64-49 loss against UW-Oshkosh in the second round of the 2017 NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Tournament at the Kolf Sports Center in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
DePauw shot just 25 percent in the first half and ended the game at 35 percent (18-of-52). They shot 11 percent from three-point range (2-of-19) and were 79 percent (11-of-14) from the line.
UW-Oshkosh shot nearly 50 percent from the floor in the first half and finished at 44 percent (27-of-61). They were 35 percent (7-of-20) from beyond the arc and 60 percent from the line at 3-of-5. DePauw was outrebounded, 38-31, and outscored in the paint, 36-20. DePauw outscored the Titans’ bench, 21-20.
Junior Emily Budde (Cincinnati, OH/Mother of Mercy) led the Tigers with 11 points off the bench. Senior Claire Ryan (Chicago, IL/Marist) scored 10 and just missed on a double-double at nine rebounds.
In the Tigers’ win over Gustavus Adolphus in the first round, senior Taylor Howard (Peoria, IL/Peoria Christian) tallied 18 points and grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds, while Budde scored 17 and added a career-high five steals to lead DePauw to the 10-point victory.
DePauw concludes the season at 27-3. It was their 16th straight season with at least 22 wins - the second longest active streak in Division III. They are also the seventh DePauw team to win at least 27 games in a season.
