The DePauw Tigers are 2-0 following victories against Wis. Lutheran and Luther to win the Paul F. Knueppel Classic in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. All nine North Coast squads will be in action this week as non-conference play continues over the Thanksgiving Holiday, including the first league game of the year when Hiram visits Oberlin on Tuesday.

ALLEGHENY split a pair of games at the Greg Richards ‘08 Memorial Classic in Meadville to start the season. The Gators opened with an 84-47 win over Penn State-Behrend. Delaney Arbore (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) finished the game with 23 points, three rebounds and two steals, hitting 5-of-10 threes. Kiersten Librizzi (Hampton, NJ/Pope John XXIII) tallied 10 points with four steals and three rebounds. Julianna Skowron (Sewickley, PA/Oakland Catholic) had a game-high 11 rebounds with seven points and two assists. The Gators fell in their second game to Carnegie Mellon, 76-47. Candaisy Crawford (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) led the Gators with 12 points and four rebounds. Skowron had eight points and a team-high nine rebounds.

DENISON opened the 2017 campaign 2-1 after opening the season with a 67-63 comeback win at Case. Sophomore Addie Buzas (Scottsdale, AZ/Chaparral) recorded a career-high 18 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore Alison Schafer (Columbia Station, OH/Columbia) led the team with 20 points in the win. The Big Red then hosted the 2017 Denison Classic, where they defeated Earlham on Saturday, 68-61, and then lost to No. 9 Trine, 58-41.

DEPAUW opened the season with a pair of wins at the Paul F. Knueppel Classic as it defeated host Wisconsin Lutheran, 64-53, and Luther, 78-67. Maya Howard (St. Louis, MO/MICDS) was named to the all-tournament team after averaging 18.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game. She scored a career-high 25 in the win over Luther. Claire Keefe (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville) scored 20 in her first collegiate game on Friday and averaged 17.0 points, while Kylie Morris (Sr., Prescott Valley, AZ/Bradshaw Mountain) grabbed 9.5 rebounds per game.

HIRAM posted a 1-2 mark over three games last week. Hiram first fell to a pair of PAC opponents, dropping a 66-50 decision to Grove City, before falling to Washington & Jefferson, 82-48. Hiram picked up its first win of the year, and first in the career of head coach Alex Dellas, in an 11-point victory over Dickinson. The Terriers were led by a career-high 24 points by senior Allison Vannoy (Mantua, OH/Crestwood). Senior Jazmine Scott (Toledo, OH/Toledo Central Catholic) added 18 points of the bench for the Terriers, also marking a career best. Freshman Amanda Holzman (Medina, OH/Medina) made her first-career start, scoring eight points and adding eight rebounds.

KENYON kicked off the season with a 2-1 record. The Ladies defeated Muskingum, 65-55, and Earlham, 68-56, but dropped a game to nationally-ranked Trine, 52-42. Paige Matijasich (Pickerington, OH/Pickerington North) scored a career-high 17 points against Muskingum, Sharon Hull (Ellicot City, MD/St. Paul’s School for Girls) also logged a career-best 18 against Trine and Jessica Gerber (Newtown, PA/Council Rock North) put up 17 against Earlham. Lane Davis (Darien, CT/St. George’s) added a double-double against Earlham.

OBERLIN turned in a 1-1 week, opening the season with a 65-44 loss at Mount Union, before regrouping with a 61-57 road win at Muskingum. The Yeowomen trailed by as many as 15 against the Muskies, but rallied in the second half to earn their first win of the season. Sophomore guard Ally Driscoll (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) scored in double figures in both games, including a career-high 14 points against the Purple Raiders.

OHIO WESLEYAN dropped a pair of contests to open the season, falling to Manchester and Otterbein at the Main View Tip-Off Tournament. Junior guard Erin Delaney (Toledo/Notre Dame Academy) led the Bishops after averaging 14.5 points per game, including 19 against Otterbein.

WITTENBERG opened the year with a 1-1 record. The Tigers lost to Spalding on Friday before notching a 92-25 victory against Mary Baldwin. Freshman guard Abigail Yunker (Whitehouse, OH/Anthony Wayne High School) led the Tigers in the win with a game-high 25 points.

WOOSTER posted a 2-1 record to open the 2017-18 campaign with victories against PSU-Behrend and Alma. Junior guard Kyle Croxton (Columbus, OH/Upper Arlington) provided a huge lift coming off the bench, averaging 11.7 points and two steals per game in being named to the an Nichols Classic All-Tournament Team.
