A few NCAC teams took the week off to focus on final exams, with just two league games as Denison (5-6, 1-3) knocked off Wooster (2-7, 0-4) and Ohio Wesleyan (0-7, 0-2) fell to Kenyon (9-1, 4-0) on Saturday. With just six games scheduled this week, league squads will return to non-conference action after the holiday break with numerous teams either hosting or traveling to holiday tournaments, while a full schedule of conference action picks back up on January 3rd.

ALLEGHENY fell in its lone game of the week at Capital, 64-54. The game featured 10 ties and 15 lead changes. Delaney Arbore (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) led the Gator offense with 25 points. Madison Caufield (Pittsburgh, PA/Oakland Catholic) had nine rebounds and eight points. Four players ended the game with four rebounds and four points.

DENISON earned its first win in NCAC play on Saturday, defeating Wooster, 72-49. The Big Red finished with three players in double-figures, but were led by sophomore Addie Buzas (Scottsdale, AZ/Chaparral) who scored a career-high 23 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the perimeter. Denison also won the rebound-battle, 54-40, in the victory.

HIRAM captured its third-straight win with a 78-56 victory over Thiel, Tuesday evening. Led by a career night from junior Bri Burgos (Chippewa Lake, OH/Cloverleaf), the Hiram reserves once again came to play, outscoring the Thiel bench, 37-4. The game marked the third-straight in which the Terrier reserves accounted for 37 of the team’s points. In the three-game winning streak, Hiram’s bench is outscoring their opponents 111-35. Burgos finished with a career high in both points (18) and rebounds (15) for her first double-double of her career.

KENYON rallied for a 61-56 win against Ohio Wesleyan last week and improved its record to 9-1 and 4-0 in the NCAC. It is the second-best start in program history through 10 games and only bested by the 2005-06 team (10-0). Jessica Gerber (Newtown, PA/Council Rock North) scored a game-high 16 points in the win. In the fourth quarter alone, she hit three 3-pointers and hit a pair of free throws. This season, she has scored in double figures in eight of 10 games.

OHIO WESLEYAN dropped its lone game of the week, 61-56, on the road at Kenyon on Saturday. The Bishops grabbed a two point lead with 2:43 left in the game but the Ladies’ scored the final seven points of the contest to get the win. Sophomore guard Nicole Popovich (Rocky River, OH/Rocky River) led the Bishops with 14 points, 16 rebounds, and five assists for her second double-double of the season. Sophomore guard Claire Sterling (West Jefferson, OH/West Jefferson) also shared the team lead with 14 points and junior guard Erin Delaney (Toledo, OH/Notre Dame Academy) added 10 points.

WOOSTER was outscored 24-7 in the opening quarter and was unable to overcome the slow start falling to Denison, 72-49. Freshman Maria Janasko (Sheffield Lake, OH/Lake Ridge Academy) posted a double-double in the loss to lead the Scots with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

DEPAUWOBERLIN and WITTENBERG were all idle last week.
